According to new research, Americans lost an estimated $15.7 BILLION to porch pirates last year alone. That's from 241 MILLION stolen packages.
The average loss isn't huge. It's $65 per package, and 85% are under $100 . . . but that doesn't make the inconvenience any less infuriating. And in some cases the loss of MONEY as well.
The most commonly stolen packages were from Amazon (72%) . . . followed by UPS (31%) . . . FedEx (30%) . . . and USPS (29%).
States like New York, Hawaii, and Wisconsin report the most porch pirates . . . while Alabama, Kentucky, Oklahoma, and Maine report the fewest thefts.

A couple in Florida is facing charges, after they left their 16-year-old son by himself on the side of the interstate . . . and told him to fend for himself.
They only left him with some cash, and a "bag of handguns."
It sounds like a sad story. The teen got home from school, and walked the dog. He came back to his parents frantically packing . . . saying that they were going on a trip . . . "either to Guam or Idaho."
A little while into the drive, they kicked the boy out of the car with the cash and guns. When the police found him, they took him home, where the front door and garage door were left wide open . . . but no one was home.
It sure sounds like they could've benn running away from something . . . or involved in something bad . . . but there's no word what that may be.

Today’s Useless Fact of the Day - Nachos are called nachos after their inventor, Ignacio "Nacho" Anaya, who was the host at a Mexican restaurant called the Victory Club.
One night in 1943, some U.S. Army wives came in late, but the chef had already left. So Nacho went into the kitchen to throw something together for them. It was, essentially, nachos as we know them. The dish was so popular with the women and other guests, that it was eventually put on the menu.
