Today in Music History - 1979 Chic's "Good Times" went to #1. In a 2015 interview Rodgers stated that "Good Times" was partly inspired by the 1974 Kool & The Gang song "Hollywood Swinging". "Rapper's Delight" interpolates Chic's "Good Times", resulting in Chic's Nile Rodgers and Bernard Edwards threatening to sue Sugar Hill Records for copyright infringement; a settlement was reached that gave the two songwriting credits.

They were playing the radio, and the news at the top of the hour came on and mentioned it. Also on this date in 2018, Aretha Franklin died. I don't know where I was when I heard the news. 2017 Pantone announced a new color: a purple hue in honor of Prince named after his famous symbol (Love Symbol #2). The Love Symbol (as it’s called) album was released in October 1992. Today in Music History - 1975 - The Runaways formed. Their first album (1976) gave us "Cherry Bomb." Consisting of Joan Jett, Lita Ford, Cherie Currie, Jackie Fox, and Sandy West. Today in Music History - 2000 - "Can't Fight the Moonlight" by LeAnn Rimes from the movie Coyote Ugly was released. Written by Diane Warren and produced by Trevor Horn, it peaked at #11and #17 Club. It did reach #1 in Australia. Rimes was the singing voice for lead Piper Perabo in the film. The movie opened in the US to $17.3 million (4th place) and grossed $113 million worldwide!
