D’Angelo, the neo-soul trailblazer and modern visionary whose three albums were widely acclaimed as masterful works of art, died at 51 after a prolonged battle with cancer/
His three solo albums — Brown Sugar, 2000’s Voodoo, and 2014’s Black Messiah — all earned critical acclaim and cracked the Top 10 of the Billboard 200 albums chart, with Voodoo reaching Number One. His biggest Hot 100 charter was “Lady,” but it was “Untitled (How Does it Feel),” with its memorable one-shot video of a naked D’Angelo belting the track, that arguably became his signature song.
He won 4 Grammys over the course of his career.

Taylor Swift's "The Life of a Showgirl" sold a masive 4 million copies in its first week.
That 4 million is in what they call "equivalent album units," which include both pure album sales and streaming activity. But most of that WAS in pure album sales: 3,479,500 copies.
Both of those numbers are the largest weekly sums of the modern era, going back to 1991. Adele's album "25" had previously held both records.
This is also Taylor's 15th #1 album. That breaks her out of a tie with Drake and Jay-Z for most #1 albums by a solo artist.
And Taylor is #2 on the overall list, behind only the Beatles, who have 19 chart-topping albums.
Taylor also dominates the Hot 100, with all 12 tracks from "Life of a Showgirl" commandeering the Top12 spots, led by "The Fate of Ophelia" at #1.
This is the first time every song on an album has topped the Hot 100 uninterrupted. And it's the THIRD time Taylor has owned the entire Top 10.
In related news, Taylor announced two upcoming projects yesterday: A full concert film and a 6-part behind-the-scenes docuseries on the Eras Tour. Both hit Disney+ on December 12th.

"KPop Demon Hunters" has become a cultural phenomenon that no one could've predicted. It's currently the most-watched movie of all time on Netflix with more than 325 million views around the world.
There's talk of a sequel, but don't expect to see your favorite characters in live-action. The creator, Maggie Kang, shot down the idea.
Quote, "There's so many elements of the tone and the comedy that are so suited for animation. It's really hard to imagine these characters in a live-action world. It would feel too grounded. So totally it wouldn't work for me."

A northern Kentucky man's Halloween display could break a world record this year, and he's using it as a chance to raise money for a good cause. He lives in Cold Spring, just across the border from Cincinnati.
His mom passed away 25 years ago and loved Halloween. So he always goes big with it. He started setting it up in mid-August, and he's hoping to set the record for most Halloween props in one display.
He always picks a new charity to raise money for. This time, he's collecting donations for the Northern Kentucky Children's Advocacy Center.
“We discovered there are no records for the amount of props in a Halloween display. We have over 300,” Halloween Herm said.

Turning toys and games into fictional properties is tricky. Sometimes you get "Barbie". . . but other times you get "Rainbow Brite and the Star Stealer". It'll be interesting to see how this one turns out:
There's a live-action series in the works based on Mattel's Magic 8 Ball . . . and it's being directed by M. Night Shyamalan. It was written by Brad Falchuk, who's best known for being Gwyneth Paltrow's husband.
He also co-created "Glee", "American Horror Story", "Scream Queens", "Pose", and the "911" franchise.
According to a press release, the show will, quote, "aim to reimagine the classic Magic 8 Ball as the centerpiece of a high-concept, character-driven supernatural drama that blends psychological intensity with cultural intrigue."
Magic 8 Ball has been with us for 75 years, and we're STILL buying more than a million of them every year.
No word on where or when this will appear. Let's ask the 8 Ball. (shake)
Outlook unclear. Thanks.

The East Coast grocery chain Giant is recalling its hard taco dinner kits.
It's not a normal recall..it's just that instead of taco seasoning packets...they are packets of Hot Chocolate!
I guess it's good news/bad news.
Bad if you have a milk allergy.
Bad if you don't like sweets.
Good if you are open-minded. After all, Mole sauce can have chocolate in it.

A new poll by CVS found the average family that stocks up on candy early will eat their way through the entire stash . . . not once, but TWICE before they make it to Halloween.
One in four said they've even had years where they had to restock THREE times or more. So, waiting another week or two might be a good call.
55% said they usually have to run out and buy more candy at the last second no matter what.

Today’s Useless Fact of the Day - Tea bags were invented by accident in 1908. A salesman in New York sent samples of tea to people in silk bags, and they assumed they were supposed to put the entire bag into the pot. And the trend caught on.
