25 Years Ago - 1998 Madonna released her seventh album Ray of Light.
An electronica and techno-pop record which incorporates multiple genres, including ambient, trip hop, psychedelic music, and Middle Eastern music, while also seeing Madonna singing with greater breadth and a fuller tone.
At the time a Madonna album release was an event and it was a race to the store to get it day of release! This is a hands-down masterpiece. And was played extensively in 1998.
The first single "Frozen" (#2 Hot 100, #8 AC, #9 Adult Top 40, #1 Club, #2 Dance Single Sales, #4 Mainstream Top 40, and #15 Rhythmic.)
The title track "Ray of Light" was next. (still screamin "AND I FEEL") (#5, #39 AC, #1 Club, #2 Dance Singles Sales, #13 Mainstreatm Top 40, #32 Rhythmic.)
"The Power of Good-Bye" was the third US single (#11, #14 AC, #40 Adult Top 40, #18 Mainstream Top 40.)
"Nothing Really Matters" released over a year after the album release was the final single making #1 on the club chart but only #93 on the Hot 100. (#2 Dance Singles Sales, #25 Mainstream Top 40.)
You should seriously just listen to the whole thing front to back...right now.
