45 Years Ago - 1981 The Soundtrack for Heavy Metal was released.
An adult animated science fantasy anthology film co- produced by Ivan Reitman and Leonard Mogel who published the Heavy Metal magazine.
Artists contributing to the soundtrack included Sammy Hagar, DEVO, Stevie Nicks, Blue Oyster Cult, Donald Fagan, and Journey.
"Heavy Metal (Takin' a Ride)" is by Eagles guitarist Don Felder and peaked at #43 and #5 Mainstream Rock. Bandmates Timothy B Schmitt and Don Henley played and sang backup on the track.
"Reach Out" by Cheap Trick did not have any chart action.
