Genologyexplained.com has a list of Christmas traditions that once defined the American holiday season (60s & 70s)—and then disappeared completely.
Door-to-Door Christmas Caroling

In the 1960s and early 70s, you’d hear singing on your porch without warning.
Scout troops bundled up. Church youth groups grabbed songbooks and flashlights. Families made it a yearly thing.
Homeowners kept cookies and hot chocolate ready. Some groups collected for charity—UNICEF boxes, March of Dimes containers.

A regional grocery store recently went viral after unveiling an unusual — and intriguing — treat: butter-dipped ice cream cones.

Stew Leonard's, a Connecticut-based chain, posted a video showing an employee dipping a vanilla soft-serve cone in a bowl of melted Stew Leonard’s brand butter.
Some internet comments:
"My son just said (in awe), 'We don't even do that in Wisconsin,'"
"Just because you ameriCAN doesn't mean you ameriSHOULD,"

Restaurants across the country are reporting a surge in reservations for very early dinner times, specifically 5:00 PM and 5:30 PM. Americans of all ages are embracing earlier dining, driven by a desire for better value (early specials), convenience, and potentially better digestion and sleep health.

A homeowner in Pennsylvania reported a strange incident where a person wearing a crudely made paper-plate mask approached their doorstep, left an empty box, and declared into the Ring camera: "I am the box demon, I leave this gift, this box, a gift for you." The video of the bizarre, non-threatening encounter went viral as a piece of pure internet absurdity.

Today’s Useless Fact of the Day - When the animated special A Charlie Brown Christmas first aired on December 9, 1965, Charlie Brown's famous rejection of a fake, modern tree in favor of a small, real one caused the aluminum Christmas tree fad that had been popular since the late 1950s to virtually cease production within two years.
(See yesterday for discussion of the aluminum trees.)
