Yesterday was not only "Taco Tuesday," it was also National Taco Day.  Previously, it was always October 4th . . . but last year they changed it so that it falls on the first Tuesday of October, for the "Taco Tuesday" tie-in.

A while back, a food blog asked, "What's the absolute WORST taco topping?"  The most popular responses include:

Cilantro which is notoriously divisive.

Black olives which are also fairly divisive.

Lettuce.  unclear why..wilted, old maybe?

Cheese.  several people mentioned American and liquid cheese sauce..but come on!

Sour cream.

Pineapple.

Radish.

Broccoli.

Onion, particularly raw onion.

Tomato, particularly raw or "mushy" tomato.

Salsa, especially jarred salsa.

Hot sauce, mainly TOO MUCH of it.

Rice.

Beans.

Avocado or guacamole.  This is also controversial.  But it seems like more people are opposed to WARM guacamole or grilled avocado.

AskReddit is discussing things people "just don't get the appeal of . . . at all."

Let's just start off seasonally, Pumpkin Spice.

-Social places where the music is too loud to talk to anyone.

-Being mean, just to seem cool.

-Being mean to animals.  It doesn't look cool at all.

-Sports betting.  Also:  Slot machines.

-Strip clubs.

-People blowing money on random stuff just because it's an expensive brand or a celebrity's company.

-Worshipping a celebrity.  Or worse, an influencer . . . or a politician.

-Taylor Swift.  "No hate at all.  I just don't get the hype . . . her music is so bland and repetitive.  That said, she's a great performer and businesswoman."

-Reality TV.  We've seen it all.  It's "edited to hell" and formulaic.

-Competitive eating competitions.

-Trendy water bottles.

-Summer.  "Why are people so obsessed with a season where all you do is sweat and smell like B.O.?"

-Sagging.  (as in pants) "I don't want to see the dome of your [backside].  It looks moronic and unhygienic."

-People intensely watching someone else play a video game.  Online . . . or in groups at home.  And for the older folks:  Watching televised golf.

-"Leaving the house."

I have a few friends who are Halloween Obsessed! If they could, they would celebrate it all year!

A new survey asked Americans to rate how much they LOVE Halloween on a scale of 1 to 5, and then compared the responses across all 50 states.

In the end, the states that are the biggest Halloween fanatics are Delaware, Idaho, and North Dakota, which all scored an average of 4.2 out of 5.

Several states were just a notch behind that, including Alabama, California, Iowa, New Hampshire, Oregon, Rhode Island, and Wyoming.

The state with the least Halloween spirit is:  Arizona, possibly because it's still 90 degrees there during trick-or-treating.  For comparison, Arizona scored an average of 3.7 out of 5.

Wisconsin also isn't that into Halloween, and neither are:  Montana, Hawaii, South Carolina, Nebraska, Virginia, Alaska, North Carolina, and Georgia.

The average American purchases 4.5 bags of candy per season . . . with most opting for the large or party size bags.

And across the country, Americans purchase around 745 MILLION pounds of candy during the Halloween season every year.

The most popular types of candy are chocolate . . . followed by chewy candy . . . and fruity candy.

Here's some workplace drama, a shuttle driver and 20 other colleagues use the same break room and share a microwave.

"They broke the new [microwave] in a day and we’re not allowed to use the one in the Dispatch office anymore and [administration] won’t get us a new one until it breaks."

Rather than continue arguing over the communal appliance, the original poster, or OP, took matters into his own hands. His solution was to bring in his own microwave to work and install a lock on it so that no one else could use it.

Before he did, he asked if anyone wanted to help chip in for a new one, and people said no.

He took it to a Reddit forum and the majority sided with him!

“You might [have] solved one problem and created another,” one commenter suggested. Another added, "NTA but I wouldn't be surprised if you arrive one day and find it 'broken' or with the power lead cut off!"

99-year-old Dick Van Dyke stays pretty lighthearted about his own mortality.  He'll be turning 100 on December 13th, and during a fan event on Sunday he joked, quote, "It'd be funny if I didn't make it."

Dick added, quote, "I brag sometimes about how I made it to a hundred and the truth is, if I had known I was going to live this long, I would've taken better care of myself.

"And it is frustrating because I don't know what I did right.  Other than [my wife], I didn't do anything right."

Dick and his wife Arlene have been married since 2012, she's 54.

Luke Combs just passed Garth Brooks as the most RIAA-certified country artist in history.

According to the Recording Industry Association of America, Luke now holds 168 million certified units from sales and streams.  That tops Garth's long-standing record of 162.5 million total.

This makes Luke not just country's new all-time leader, but also one of the most successful artists across all genres.  He's currently ranked ninth overall.

There are some that say you can't compare how records are counted now to back in the day. Also adding to this is that you can't buy Garth's music digitally.

Today’s Useless Fact of the Day - The word "dilemma" originally meant a choice between two tough options.  Three options was a trilemma, four options was a quadrilemma, and so on.
