Coffee Facts for National Coffee Day
According to legend, coffee was discovered in the 9th century by an Ethiopian goatherd named Kaldi. He noticed his goats became so energetic after eating berries from a certain tree that they wouldn't sleep at night.
Before it was consumed as a hot beverage, coffee beans were crushed and mixed with animal fat to create an energy-boosting ball eaten by warriors and travelers. Later, it was brewed as a wine called qahwah in Yemen.
After crude oil, coffee is the most heavily traded commodity in the entire world, supporting the livelihoods of over 100 million people globally.
The world drinks an estimated 2.25 billion cups of coffee every day.
Finland consistently ranks as the highest coffee-consuming country per capita in the world, with the average Finnish adult consuming around 12 kilograms (26 pounds) of coffee annually. averaging about 4 to 5 cups a day.
66% of U.S. adults drink coffee daily — the highest rate in 20 years. We rank 24th.

Recapping the MTV VMAs
Madonna led with seven wins, including Artist of the Year, Best Collaboration with Sabrina Carpenter for "Bring Your Love", and her filmed Confessions medley) with Taylor taking home two competitive awards (including Video of the Year for "The Fate of Ophelia" and the Artist Director Honors)
BTS won three awards while Ariana Grande and Sabrina Carpenter both took home two.
Best New Artist was a very surprised Sienna Spiro.
Ella Langley (who was very absent from the awards) won Best Country for "Choosin' Texas"
Song of the Summer went to Ariana Grande for "hate that i made you love me"
