Peter Byrne, the singer of the 1980s synth-pop duo Naked Eyes, has died at age 74.
Interesting note, keyboardist Rob Fisher (who died in 1999) along with Byrne were in a band called Neon that included Rolan Orzabla and Curt Smith who went on to form Tears For Fears.

Snoop Dogg hosts this year's MTV VMA's Sunday starting at 7:30pm.
Madonna leads this year’s nominees with 11 nods (including Video of the Year and Artist of the Year) and is set to open the show—her first live performance at the VMAs in 23 years.
Taylor Swift (nominated for 9 awards) is being honored as the inaugural recipient of the MTV VMA Artist Director Honor for her work behind the camera. Receiving this trophy makes her the single most-awarded artist in VMA history (breaking her tie at 30 wins with Beyoncé).
Video Vanguard Award: Nirvana will receive the Video Vanguard Award nearly 35 years after their first VMA performance.

When someone is being rude in a movie theater, what's a reasonable reaction?
34-year-old Matthew Ware in Burbank, California, was arrested and removed from AMC Burbank after he used pepper spray against a fellow moviegoer at a screening of The Uprising. Why? He was frustrated that the person was using their phone during the movie. (I don't see a problem here.)

Taylor Swift has announced her first new song since her July wedding to Travis Kelce—and she did it in classic Swift fashion. A cryptic countdown clock appeared on her website, and her Instagram bio changed to "And, baby, that's sh0w business f0r y0u" with zeros replacing the "o"s.

Weird Al Yankovic's name was recently approved for an asteroid, or space rock, that zooms around our solar system about once every four years.
The asteroid is formally known as (14331) Alyankovic, or 1981 EC26. 1981 refers to the year of the asteroid's discovery, and Yankovic's name for it was approved by the International Astronomical Union (IAU), the official body that arbitrates the monikers of things in the universe.
Alyankovic joins several other musical-themed celebrity monikers on asteroids, such as 17059 Elvis, 17473 Freddiemercury, 249516 Aretha (after Aretha Franklin), 10731 Dollyparton, and all members of the Beatles (both individually and as a group for 8749 Beatles)

Today's Useless Fact of the Day - It's National Quesadilla Day
The word quesadilla literally translates to "little cheesy thing" in Spanish, originating from central and northern Mexico where corn tortillas were traditionally warmed on a griddle, stuffed with cheese, and folded over long before modern commercial variations took over.
