The Date to Create!

--

Yesterday was supposedly the most dangerous day of the year to drive.

A dash-cam company called Nextbase crunched the numbers and found August 7th is the deadliest day on American roadways.

They didn't explain why a random Wednesday in August is so dangerous.  But it's based on data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

They also did a poll that found 62% of drivers feel like the roads are more dangerous than they were five years ago.

Of those people, two-thirds said distracted driving is the thing they worry about most . . . 19% said other people's road rage . . . 7% said getting carjacked . . . and 4% said theft or break-ins.

Science figured out the perfect kids' song, and it's not "Baby Shark".

It's "Radio Ga Ga" by Queen, Queen's "We Will Rock You" and "Single Ladies" by Beyoncé.

A music psychology professor from the UK created a formula for the best children's song, and it's basically this:

It should be 60 to 120 beats per minute, with a, quote, "marching or swaying rhythm" and repetitive, rhyming lyrics.  It should also be in a major key.

Yesterday it was Robot Massages, today - Robot dentists are about to become a thing after an A.I. company called Perceptive pulled off the first fully automated dental procedure.  A robotic arm controlled by A.I. shaved down a guy's tooth for a crown.

It works by 3D mapping the inside of your mouth.  Then it clamps onto your jaw, and a drill moves in circles to grind your tooth down.

They say they're still five years away from FDA approval.  But the plan is to eventually have them at dental offices all over the country.

They recently raised $30 million in funding.  One of the investors is Dr. Edward Zuckerberg, who's a dentist and also Mark Zuckerberg's dad.

Nominees for the 2024 "MTV Video Music Awards" were announced yesterday.  Taylor Swift . . . unsurprisingly . . . leads with 10.

Post Malone is right behind with NINE.  He has Taylor to thank for eight of those though, for their song "Fortnight".

Ariana Grande, Eminem, and Sabrina Carpenter follow with six each . . . and Megan Thee Stallion and SZA with five each.

If Taylor wins FOUR awards, she'll TIE Beyoncé as the most-awarded artist in "VMA" history with 29.  Also, if Eminem wins just ONE award, he'll break his tie with Peter Gabriel to become the most-awarded man with 13 "VMAs".

The "VMAs" air live from New York's UBS Arena on Tuesday, September 10th at 8:00 p.m. Eastern. By the way, The VMA's turn 40 this year. The first aired in 1984 with Madonna's performance of Like a Virgin. Outrageous!!!!! (sorry, that came later. Dan Aykroyd and Bette Midler hosted.

A group called "Ryan Meetup" was in the news this year for throwing an event in Texas called the "Ryan Rodeo".  Only people named Ryan were invited.  Their slogan was "No BRYANS Allowed."

Now they're back in the news after renting out a movie theater in New York to watch the new Ryan Reynolds movie, "Deadpool & Wolverine".

They let one guy named Hugh watch it with them, as a nod to Hugh Jackman. But he still fit in perfectly when they revealed his full name. Last name, Ryan.

According to new scientific research, it really does HURT to think . . . but not exactly in the way you'd expect.

The study's senior author puts it like this . . . "In general, people really dislike mental effort."  The harder people have to think, the more unpleasant they find the experience.  So thinking "hurts," because it's so uncomfortable.

The GOOD news is that we're all in the same boat.  The negative feelings associated with mental effort affect people throughout the world . . . across work experience . . . education level . . . and various types of tasks.

Everybody loves a bargain . . . for about three and a half hours.

There's a new survey out on everyday expenses, and it found that many people get an actual BUZZ when they score a good deal.

The average "post-purchase glow" lasts 3 hours and 36 minutes.

About 1 in 3 people feel the buzz LONGER than that. and 10% of people say that it boosts their mood for the entire day.

60% of people believe they can find a deal on ANYTHING . . . and 54% say they're the best bargain hunter they know.  And people aren't shy talking about it either.  59% of people like to brag about getting a great price to their partner, friends, and extended family.

So what counts as a "good deal?"  On average, it's saving at least 36%.
