Guinness World Records just turned 70.  The first "Guinness Book of World Records" came out on August 27th, 1955.  And to celebrate, they shared a list of 70 records no one's attempted yet, so the bar is still low.

ree

They added a section to their site called Record Selector that's supposed to tell you which ones you'd have the best chance at.  You answer five personality questions, and it spits out a few records you might want to attempt.

Here are the best ones that are currently up for grabs.

These seem pretty doable. Why they haven't been attempted is beyond me.

1.  Most high fives in 30 seconds

2.  Most kisses in 30 seconds by two people

3.  Fastest time to make a burrito

4.  Longest marathon playing air guitar

5.  Most anchovies eaten in one minute

6.  Fastest 10-meter sprint while holding a balloon between your knees

7.  Farthest distance by leapfrog jumps in one hour

8.  Fastest time to arrange a set of Scrabble tiles in alphabetical order

9.  Fastest time to make a pasta necklace.  (Only kids can apply for that one.)

10.  Fastest time to push an orange 100 meters with your nose

11.  Greatest height to drop an egg without breaking it (plain or in an egg drop competition?)

12.  Longest duration to balance a spoon on your nose

13.  Longest paperclip chain in one minute

14.  Longest videogame marathon playing Roblox

15.  Farthest distance bottle flip.  (Also, "Fastest time to flip 10 water bottles" and "Greatest height to flip a bottle.")

16.  Most movie theaters visited in a month

17.  Most coffeehouses visited in a month

18.  Most cans crushed with your foot in one minute

19.  Most fortune cookies eaten in one minute

20.  Most headbands worn at once (I feel it's a rubberband/watermelon situation..be careful)

21.  Most Pringles eaten in one minute

22.  Most treats balanced on a dog's nose in 30 seconds

23.  Most t-shirts put on in one minute

24.  Fastest time to ascend the height of Everest by bike

25.  Most whoopee cushions sat on in one minute by a team of two

The media absolutely blew up over the Taylor Swift / Travis Kelce engagement.  But how do the people feel?

The answer, according to a new poll, is totally ambivalent.  72% of respondents say they don't care at all . . . while only 5% say they care a lot.  15% claim to care a little, and 7% aren't sure how they feel.

Nicolas Cage will play Joseph, the Earthly father of Jesus, in a movie called "The Carpenter's Son".  But this isn't your typical Jesus flick, because it's a horror thriller.

It's based on the Infancy Gospel of Thomas, an account of Christ's childhood that's widely considered to be FAKE.

Jesus is played by Noah Jupe from "A Quiet Place" 1 and 2 . . . and FKA Twigs is Mary.  The movie is due out sometime in the fall.

Google says searches for "business casual" are at an all-time high, and it's mainly because no one knows what it means.

Merriam-Webster defines it as, "a style of dressing for white-collar employees that is less formal than business attire."  So, pretty vague, especially in 2025.

Here are 10 types of attire we've been asking about this year, along with the city that's googling each one the most.

1.  "Are sweats business casual?"  People in L.A. are googling it the most.

2.  "Are baggy jeans business casual?"  Salt Lake City is #1.

3.  "Are cowboy boots business casual?"  Charleston, South Carolina

4.  "Are hoodies business casual?"  Denver wants to know.

5.  "Are combat boots business casual?"  Chicago hopes they are.

6.  "Are flannel shirts business casual?"  San Francisco is googling it.

7.  "Are shorts business casual?"  Eugene, Oregon

8.  "Is a cowboy hat business casual?"  Kansas City, Missouri

9.  "Are yoga pants business casual?"  Hartford, Connecticut

10.  "Is cheetah print business casual?"  Atlanta wants to know.

This Friday is the 20th anniversary of when Hurricane Katrina slammed into Louisiana, and we just dodged a big one that stayed out in the ocean, but hurricanes only came in #4 in a new poll that asked Americans what the scariest natural disasters are.

1.  A tornado . . . 46% say they're scary

2.  A tsunami . . . 43%

3.  An earthquake . . . 35%

4.  A hurricane . . . 33%

5.  A wildfire . . . 30%

6.  A flash flood . . . 26%

7.  A heatwave or drought . . . 6%

8.  A blizzard . . . 4%

9.  A mudslide . . . 4%

There isn't a #10.

Naturally, some people are more terrified of the things that are more likely to happen in their area.  But others feel more prepared for those things . . . and are more likely to fear UNEXPECTED threats.

And a lot of people are thinking about weather chaos more than they used to.  51% say they've noticed that severe weather is becoming more common . . . 37% believe that severe weather is increasing in strength . . .

80% are more aware of natural disasters and severe weather than they were a decade ago . . . but 61% think it's harder to be prepared for natural disasters today than ever before.

Today’s Useless Fact of the Day - The word "emoji" came from the Japanese characters that translate as "e" (picture) and "moji" (character).

The plural of emoji is……emoji.

Technically, there's no "s" . . . but the "s" is widely accepted now, to follow English rules.
