It's a love story, and Taylor Swift said yes.

The music superstar and three-time Super Bowl winner Travis Kelce announced that they're engaged to be married, delighting fans around the world. They shared a joint post on Instagram on Tuesday afternoon, joking that "Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married."
Swift and Kelce's Instagram post announcing their engagement featured a close-up shot of the singer's engagement ring, and the USA TODAY Network can confirm it was created by Kindred Lubeck with Artifex Fine Jewelry.
It's an old mine brilliant cut, with a gold band that matched the Cartier watch Swift also wore in the photos.
Awww..I wish them well and a happy long marriage....BUT, when they divorce, it's gonna be a great album!!!

Yesterday was National Dog Day! Around 45% of Americans have a dog, compared to 32% who own cats. Many of us have both. If you just look at pet owners, 74% have a dog, and 51% have a cat. So there's some overlap.
If you got your dog from a friend or family member, you're not alone. 33% of dog owners got their last dog that way. Shelters and breeders are next at 24% each. Then pet stores at 18%, and 10% found their dog as a stray.
The big difference with cats is we're more than twice as likely to adopt a stray. 22% got their cat when it just strolled into their life off the street.
The poll looked at different sized dogs to see what our favorite is. Are you a big dog person, small dog person, or somewhere in the middle?
MEDIUM dogs are the most popular. That's anywhere from 26 to 54 pounds. Small dogs are next, and just 25% say they'd want a big dog.
The top reasons for not wanting a big dog include not having enough room for one . . . they're harder to travel with . . . and it costs more to feed them.

A great-grandmother near Toronto named Carol Shyminsky went skydiving for her 85th birthday. It was on her bucket list, and she loved every minute of it.
She says she didn't tell her family, because she didn't want to worry them. But when she told them later, they weren't surprised. Her advice for people is straight out of Nike's playbook. If there's something you want to do, "just do it."

A squirrel ran out onto the field at a Red Sox / Yankees game on Friday, and now it's got its own baseball card.
Topps added the card to their website over the weekend. The front is an action shot of it running, and the caption says, "It's nuts! Furry friend takes mound at Yankee Stadium." They listed the card for $8.99, and they immediately sold out.
Here’s the footage of the squirrel in the ball park.

If you're a big social media junkie you may remember the Butter Candle (nope) phenomenon that swept the internet for a couple hours a few years back. It's back!
A woman on TikTok is reminding the internet that it's almost fall, so everyone should start planning their butter candles.
Basically, you just freeze butter into a mold with a wick. Then, when you are having a gathering, you can put out a sourdough roll with a notch cut out of the middle for the frozen "butter candle."
Then you light it . . . and buttered bread is coming your way. (you dip it or use a knife to get the warm butter.
Be prepared for this to look and sound awesome . . . and then be disappointing in reality. Not to mention very messy.

Monday is Labor Day, and in general, Americans put in more hours at work than people in most other countries.
The average in the U.S. was 1,805 hours last year. That's MORE than people in Canada, Australia, Japan, or the U.K. But LESS than people in Colombia and Korea.
But which state has the HARDEST workers? Well, not Michigan. An annual study ranked all 50 states based on things like employment rates, hours worked, average commute, and how much free time people have in general.
According to the results, the 10 hardest-working states are: North Dakota . . . Alaska . . . South Dakota . . . Texas . . . Hawaii . . . Virginia . . . New Hampshire . . . Wyoming . . . Maryland . . . and Nebraska.
Michigan ranked last, followed by West Virginia . . . Rhode Island . . . Nevada . . . New York . . . California . . . Ohio . . . New Mexico . . . Illinois . . . and Oregon.

Today’s Useless Fact of the Day - Why are carrots orange?
Carrots were originally several colors, and the most common one was purple. But Dutch farmers in the 16th century bred red and yellow carrots to make orange ones, since it was their royal color . . . and those became the standard.
