Thought of the Day from Facebook:

Do you call it a "button-down shirt".... or a "button-up" shirt?

I use both interchangeably

Button up.... Even though I button down wards lol

I just call it a button shirt

Both depends on what comes out of my mouth lol

I just call them “dress shirts”

Depends on if it's AM or PM big wink

It seems there are actually two different shirts.

It’s a button up shirt unless it has a button down collar.

I thought was because the collar was button down

Idk

And polo are because they have a collar

Button up, but both sound right so now I’m questioning everything I ever thought I knew!!!!!! 😳

What’s your tiny hill to die on — so tiny that it doesn’t actually matter? What the internet said:

If you take something out of the microwave before it beeps, you are required to clear the timer so the clock shows again.

Beans belong in chili. Chili without beans is hot dog sauce.

Angel hair pasta tastes better than spaghetti pasta

Grapes are amazing. Raisins ruin everything.

 "It's anywaY, not anywayS!!!"

"Stop saying '6 a.m. in the morning.' 'a.m.' implies that it’s morning."

"I will die on the hill of the Oxford comma. I’m lucky the editors at my job are pro-Oxford comma or I’d lose my freakin’ mind."

"There is no 'x' in the words escape, especially, or espresso."

"PLUTO IS A PLANET!!!" (Today is Pluto Demoted Day - I will not observe!)

"When things are a matter of taste, don't judge other people for their preferences... Unless it's a mullet. Then, judge away."

For a junk drawer to legally qualify as a real junk drawer, what is the ONE absolute mandatory item it must include?

What the internet said:

Rubber bands and paperclips

A pad of sticky notes.

An old tube of super glue.

Birthday candles. Bonus points if they’re partially burned.

Pennies

Packets of seeds

One or two Hex Keys.

About four rolls of different tape that are never actually in the junk drawer when you need them.

Scissors

Pencils with the erasers all gone that can't be sharpened without shattering the lead

Dead Pens

Random chargers. What's that to? No one knows but we save it just in case we might need it again.

A screw that looks too important to throw out but you have no idea where it came from.

Keys to who knows what.

Assortment of single batteries (of questionable power)

One of those lighters with the long neck that hasn’t worked since the third time you used it. You check it every time you need a lighter and put it back in the drawer because “maybe I’m doing it wrong”

Calculator

Chopsticks

The thing that prevents you from closing the drawer.

Here we go again!

The End of the world will now be on Friday November 13th.

A mathematical prediction made more than six decades ago points to Friday, November 13, 2026, as “Doomsday.”

The prediction came from scientist Heinz von Foerster and his colleagues, who studied centuries of human population growth. They found that population wasn’t simply increasing steadily. According to their mathematical model, the rate of growth itself was accelerating.

The idea was that humanity could not continue following the same accelerating trajectory forever. At some point, the system would have to undergo a fundamental change.

A date mathematics put on the calendar long before most of us were born.

But.....they why have there been so many other dates mentioned as the end of the world..if this is a definitive mathematical date?

Today's Useless Fact of the Day - Cornelius Swarthout of Troy, New York, received the official U.S. patent for the waffle iron, a device featuring a hinged dual-plated design that forever revolutionized breakfast.

People had actually been cooking waffle-like batters between metal plates since medieval times—they were even sold by street vendors in Paris as early as the 13th century!

When I say Chicken and Waffles, what comes to mind??

Most likely Fried Chicken on Waffles.

But unlike the crispy fried chicken we pair with waffles today, the traditional Pennsylvania Dutch style features pulled, stewed chicken served over a plain waffle (made without sugar in the batter) and completely drenched in a rich, savory gravy.

The modern sweet-and-savory soul food legend we know today was born in Harlem, New York, in 1938 at the famous Wells Supper Club.

Jazz musicians and entertainment legends (like Sammy Davis Jr. and Nat King Cole) would flood into clubs like Wells after their gigs wrapped up in the wee hours of the morning. They were arriving too late for dinner, but too early for breakfast—so the kitchen solved the dilemma by serving up crispy fried chicken with fluffy waffles, bridging both worlds on a single plate
