Pluto Demoted Day - Pluto was a planet for 76 years but in 2006 it got demoted to a dwarf planet. At the time, new rules said in order for a celestial body to be a planet it must orbit around the Sun, have a nearly round shape, and "clear the neighborhood around its orbit."

Pluto doesn't meet the third criteria because its orbit overlaps that of Neptune for about 20 years of its 248-year orbit. For that period of time, it is closer to the Sun than Neptune is. Being that Neptune is much larger, it still is considered to be a planet.

Shooting Star Day

Vesuvius Day

Weather Complaint Day (isn't that most every day?)

80% of Americans care more about their impression on loved ones than leaving a mark on the world (54%)

Only 50% have discussed end-of-life wishes with loved ones, despite deep family focus.

As people grow older, 61% appreciate small things more, while 53% deliberately savor good moments instead of rushing through them. Nearly half (49%) see beauty in life more clearly than before, and 45% are determined to make every day count.

Nearly two-thirds of Americans (65%) don’t have a will, including about half of seniors.

Do you read for pleasure? I do more in the winter, but I always have a book going and usually catch a chapter or two before bed.

Reading for pleasure in the United States has declined by more than 40% over the last 20 years.

Reading with children did not change over the last 20 years. However, reading with children was a lot less common than reading for pleasure, which is concerning given that this activity is tied to early literacy development, academic success and family bonding.

Shrinking leisure time and well...the digital culture, you are on your smart phone more.

Gen Z, (13-28 year olds) have claimed that Leggings are dead.

They have been replaced by loose-fitting sweatpants, and tight tops..even oversized tops. Think Billie Eilish.

Shades like sage and olive have also been snidely dubbed 'millennial green,' and formal shoes like stilettos have been declared as out of style.

America’s obesity crisis extends beyond humans — studies suggest that around 60% of dogs and cats nationwide are overweight.

Don't diet and exercise them. Enter the Ozempets era! That's right! Ozempic for pets.

Basically it's a chip and the device delivers a steady dose for up to six months.

A Pee-wee Herman look-alike contest is going down this Sunday at Coney Island.  Fans are also welcome to dress like their favorite "Pee-wee's Playhouse" or Pee-wee movie character.

Miss Yvonne, Cowboy Curtis, Jambi, Large Marge, or Dottie.  A co-host for the contest says, quote, "We can't wait to see how creative the people of New York City and beyond are going to get."

I want to see someone dress like chairy, or conky! Today's word of the day is Look-a-Like! (scream)

I should probably get a different word.

Dolly Parton now has her own signature flavor of Coca-Cola.

It's called 40th Pop Fizz, and it's to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Dollywood, which turns 40 next year.

But you're going to have to travel to Pigeon Forge, Tennessee if you want to try it, because it's only available inside Dollywood.

The flavor is described as a cherry, creamy Coca-Cola taste.  Some say it's delicious, but not everyone agrees.
