Here's reason number 10,006 why life is harder when you have kids . . .

A couple in the U.K. took their two young children to a hardware store the other day. It was basically the U.K. version of Home Depot.

And when they turned their backs for a second, one of the kids decided to go number two in one of the store's display toilets.

We don't know his age, but he's wearing "Paw Patrol" shorts and looks barely old enough to be potty trained.

The mom says she tried to stop him, but it was too late. So she went to grab wet wipes, and he was still on the toilet when she got back. He told her he still "needed to finish."

She posted photos of it, including a shot of her husband trying not to gag while he fished it out.

She says an employee who was there wasn't too helpful, partly because they couldn't stop laughing.

Selena Gomez stars in Only Murders in the Building with Steve Martin and Martin Short, but she still remembers the day she auditioned for "Barney & Friends" with none other than Demi Lovato. They both attended an open call of 1,400 other kids, and they were picked along with five others.

(Demi has the red headband and Selena is in pink stripes.)

In "The Hollywood Reporter" podcast "Awards Chatter", Selena said, quote, "The wildest part of that story is that she was actually the girl standing in front of me . . . I remember she had a red bow on, I'll never forget it . . .

"I just thought the world of her. And we just had this, like, mini reunion when we saw each other when we got the part."

Selena was on 13 episodes of "Barney" from 2002 to 2004.

We blow a lot of money on wasted food, and a lot of it has to do with bogus "best by" days. So someone talked to an expert. Here are a few foods you can still eat a week or more after the "best by" date has passed.

1. Milk. If it passes the sniff test, it's probably okay. Milk is usually fine to drink up to a week after the date on the carton.

2. Eggs. You can almost ignore the date, because they're good weeks longer than that. If you're worried, try the float test. If an egg floats in water, throw it away.

3. Pasta. It's still perfectly safe to eat up to two years after the date.

4. Cheese. Hard cheeses like cheddar last a long time. Even if there's mold, you can cut it off. Soft cheeses like brie are different. So only those dates matter.

5. Dry ingredients, like flour, sugar, salt, pepper, and baking soda. They last a really long time as long as they don't get wet.

6. Bagged salad. As long as it still looks okay, it's probably fine.

7. Canned food. A lot of canned stuff can last up to two years past its expiration date, especially soups and vegetables.

Today's Useless Fact of the Day - Coffee beans aren't actually beans . . . they're a seed that people just call "beans."
