Google posted the top five "is it rude" questions we've been googling. And one of them has to do with another trending search: "Gen Z stare" videos are all over TikTok right now.
The claim is Gen Z'ers are so bad at real-life interactions, they can't even make small talk. You ask a simple question or say hi, and it's deer in headlights.
"Staring" made Google's list of the top five "is it rude" questions, but in a more general sense. Here they are . . .
1. Is it rude to refuse a gift?
2. Is it rude to wear sunglasses indoors?
3. Is it rude to invite someone to a [bridal] shower and not the wedding?
4. Is it rude to stare at someone?
5. Is it rude to go into a restaurant an hour before close?

You've probably heard it your whole life. Don't swim for at least thirty minutes after you eat. Because if not, you'll cramp. So, is it true? Turns out, not at all.
So where did it come from?
It was first seen in the original Boy Scout manual from 1908 called "Scouting for Boys" by Robert Baden-Powell.
It said, quote, "Never bathe in deep water very soon after a meal, it is very likely to cause cramp, which doubles you up, and so you get drowned."
And recently, a physician, who also was a competitive swimmer in high school, spoke out about the hypocrisy of this claim. Mostly because parents encourage their kids to eat BEFORE playing soccer to prevent cramps.
He said, "I could physically tell the difference if I had two pieces of toast and then went and swam an hour at 6:00 a.m. in high school . . . versus if I didn't eat it, I would be dragging."

This all leads to the Reddit thread, "what is something your parents told you as a kid that was never true?"(maybe to just keep you a little bit safer)
That it’s illegal to drive with the dome light on at night
or
Turning the car light on would summon a giant that would personally murder me
Drinking coffee as a child will cause you to be short when you are an adult. Its stops/slow your growth
Be quiet on the boat, you scare the fish away. (they just wanted quiet)
If I cracked my knuckles I'd get really bad arthritis, and my knuckles would become enlarged. One even said that you would get hair on my knuckles.
Everyone who didn’t go to our church wanted to stab or ridicule me, or both.
If you swallow chewing gum, it will wrap round your heart. (Yikes...i always heard that it would stay in your stomach forever) And don't forget swallowing watermelon seeds, they would grow in your stomach. (kids ask your parents about seeds in watermelon)
That my eyes would disappear if I'd cry too much
If you make ridiculous faces at someone your face will stay like that…
- reading in the dark will make you go blind
- watching TV for too long will make your eyes square
- eating carrots is good for your eyes
When people kiss each other on the lips, spiders come out of their mouths.
Told me i was allergic to animal fur because they didn’t want a dog or cat.
Killing a spider makes it rain

There's apparently a new trend on TikTok where women are using Sharpie permanent markers as lip liners.
One woman shared her technique and was so impressed that she's asking Sharpie for "more shades."
Other beauty "influencers" were less convinced. One said, "My lips weren't burning, but I could definitely feel my lips drying out. I wouldn't recommend doing this regularly . . . I can definitely taste and smell the chemicals on me."
But are those chemicals really that bad? Uh, actually, yes.
One poison control center states on its website that "permanent markers, including brands like Sharpie, contain ink that is made from the chemicals xylene, toluene and urethane resin . . . [and] breathing in the fumes can be harmful." (oh..but the smell.....)
A dermatologist told Fox News that Sharpies clearly contain toxins that are "concerning" and "risky." They add that if you did try this, you don't need to be "super worried" about the effects . . . just "stop doing it."

Horse racing jockeys in Peru raised money for charity by racing without their horses. They lined up at the starting gates and just sprinted down the track. The only gripe from racing fans was they couldn't bet on it.
This year's event saw 16 jockeys running a 100 metre sprint race for bragging rights over their competitors and to raise some money for charity.

Today's Useless Fact of the Day - Today is Guinea Pig Appreciation Day!

Despite their name, guinea pigs are not native to Guinea, nor are they closely related to pigs. They are from the Andes region of South America.
Studies suggest they are domesticated animals that do not exist naturally in the wild.
We don't, but in some places they are raised for meat!
In Switzerland, it is illegal to own just one guinea pig. They are a social animal and it's considered abuse due to the potential for loneliness and depression.
