Tuesday 7/14/26

Bastille Day (let them eat cake)

Cow Appreciation Day

International Non-binary People's Day

National Grand Marnier Day

National Tape Measure Day

Pandemonium Day

Shark Awareness Day

National Mac and Cheese Day

The earliest known recipe for a dish resembling macaroni and cheese dates back to a late 13th-century Italian cookbook called Liber de Coquina. It featured a dish called de lasanis, which paired tossed pasta sheets with grated cheese.

Thomas Jefferson is widely credited with popularizing mac and cheese in the United States. He encountered the dish in Paris, loved it so much that he sketched out designs for a macaroni machine, smuggled a machine back to America, and even served "macaroni pie" at a State dinner in 1802.

Kraft introduced its boxed Macaroni & Cheese Dinner in 1937 during the height of the Great Depression. It was marketed as a way to feed a family of four for just 19 cents.

During World War II, the product exploded in popularity because millions of boxes could be purchased with just one rationing coupon. Kraft sold 80 million boxes in 1943 alone.

Canadians eat an average of 3.2 boxes of Kraft Mac & Cheese (locally known as Kraft Dinner, or "KD") per person every year.

That is 55% more than Americans, making Canada the top per-capita consumer of the boxed dinner in the world.

The new buzzword comes with the latest behavioral hack taking over the lifestyle space is replacing long-term goal obsession with "minorstones." Instead of waiting to celebrate major career wins, data shows that actively rewarding yourself for tiny daily completions—like finishing a chaotic laundry load or responding to an overdue email—drastically lowers baseline cortisol.
