A new survey talked to 5,000 pet owners . . . 100 in each of the 50 states . . . to determine what tendencies pets and their owners might have in different areas.
And based on the results, they put out a list of "superlatives" associated with various states. Not all states got a mention . . . but here are the ones that did:
Alaska . . . Most likely to take their pet on an adventure. And most attached to their pets.
California . . . Most likely to prioritize their pet's needs over their own.
Connecticut . . . Home of the cuddliest pets.
Colorado . . . Most likely to prioritize their pet's mental and emotional wellness.
Delaware . . . Most likely to use tech to manage their pet's care.
Florida . . . Most well-traveled pets, who have been to the most other states. (or most likely to get eaten by an alligator)
Georgia . . . Most likely to have a wellness plan for their pet.
Indiana . . . Spend the most time being "homebodies" with their pets.
Kentucky . . . Most likely to take their pet to the vet.
Louisiana . . . Most likely to travel with their pets.
Maryland . . . Most likely to pamper their pet.
Massachusetts . . . Most likely to celebrate their pet's birthday.
Michigan . . . Where pets are the most routine-oriented, and the least likely to try new things.
Nevada . . . Spends the most time with their pet.
Oklahoma . . . Most likely to spend more on their pet's grooming than their own.
South Carolina . . . Most likely to never miss a flea and tick treatment.
Tennessee . . . Most likely to have more apps on their phone for their pet's wellness than their own.
There were no entries for New York or Pennslyvania.

A Bobcat wandered into a Colorado home and cops tried to lure it out with......a laser pointer.
The bobcat was unfazed.
“Yo, guys, look at his thing. Hi kitty kitty,” a male deputy was heard saying.
“Well, I’m going to see if he chases the laser,” he said before jesting, “I don’t know, cats like lasers.”
The deputies eventually left after their failed attempt to coax out the whiskered prowler — which left the home on its own about four hours later.

Get ready for shortest days on record as Earth spins unusually fast on July 9, July 22, and August 5.
Earth is a pretty reliable clock – each full rotation takes about 86,400 seconds, or exactly 24 hours. But it’s not perfect. Since 2020, atomic clocks have revealed something strange: the planet has been spinning slightly faster than usual, shaving off tiny slivers of time.
These changes are measured in milliseconds – thousandths of a second – and tracked using ultra-precise atomic clocks. In 2020, the shortest day ever recorded was just 1.47 milliseconds shorter than normal. Since then, Earth has kept breaking its own records. The shortest day yet came on July 5, 2024, clocking in at 1.66 milliseconds under the 24-hour mark.
And it’s happening again:
Why is this happening? That’s the mystery. While the Moon’s position influences short-term spin changes, the long-term acceleration is likely driven by complex motions in Earth’s core. But even leading experts admit they don’t fully understand what’s going on beneath our feet.

A study at Penn State found eating avocados might help you sleep better.
Researchers had people eat one avocado a day for six months. And they were surprised to find that their sleep improved.
It also lowered people's cholesterol, which they were expecting. But they're not sure why it helped them sleep better.
Their best guess is it's just all the extra nutrients avocados have. They're loaded with fiber, potassium, folate, vitamin K, monounsaturated fat, and other good stuff.
They say more research is needed to figure out exactly why avocados might help. But sleeping well is important for your overall health and aging. So it could be an easy way to improve your health in general.

Steve Burns, or as you'd know him, the original host of "Blue's Clues" from 1996-2002, is launching a podcast this fall for all the adults who grew up watching him.
It's called "Alive" and episodes will be released on a weekly basis. It'll focus on "what it means to stay human in a complicated world." The idea originated from Steve's viral video in 2021 for the show's 25th anniversary.
He says, quote, "There are a thousand podcasts you can listen to, this is one that listens back. I really want to continue what we started decades ago. For us, it was all about curious investigation. It was about looking a little closer.
"About asking the right questions. About following the clues that helped lead us toward greater understanding. 'Alive' is really just a continuation . . . only now we're grown-ups . . . We're still searching, still learning, still trying to connect."
Steve added that there will be LESS talking furniture, but there will still be some fun along the way.

It would be a vast understatement to say that a lot of things have happened regarding Facebook since the movie "The Social Network" came out in 2010.
So Aaron Sorkin is making a sequel that'll focus on the consequences of Facebook becoming the largest social media platform.
It'll be based on an investigation by the "Wall Street Journal" that exposed the fact that the company was actually aware of its own negative impacts, including the spread of disinformation.
The sequel will be called "The Social Network Part 2" . . . at least for now. There's no word if Jesse Eisenberg will return to play Mark Zuckerberg.
