Tom Kane was an American voice actor known for his work in animation and video games, particularly for voicing characters in the Star Wars franchise, including Yoda and Admiral Ackbar. He was active from 1977 until his retirement in 2021 and passed away on May 18 at 64.

Kane's best known role outside of "Star Wars" may be Professor Utonium, the man who creates the three title heroes on the Cartoon Network series "The Powerpuff Girls." He also voiced the chimpanzee Darwin on "The Wild Thornberrys," a role he reprised on the big screen in "The Wild Thornberrys Movie" and the crossover film "Rugrats Go Wild," Mr. Herriman in Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends, and Woodhouse in Archer, taking the role over from George Coe following his death in 2015.

Dealing with customer service can make almost everyone crazy!! Even the Pope!
He called his bank's customer service line last year in Chicago to change his phone number and address.
After Leo, who was born Robert Prevost, answered a series of security questions, the customer service representative offered him a seemingly straightforward solution.
"Oh, I'm sorry, sir. It says here you have to come in person."
But after pleading with the representative to no avail, Leo had one last card to pull.
"Would it matter to you if I told you I'm Pope Leo?" he said.
That didn't work, either.
"She hung up on him."
After Leo's initial ill-fated phone call to his bank, he turned to a fellow Augustinian priest, the Rev. Bernie Scianna, for help, McCarthy said.
Scianna then somehow connected with the bank's president, who reiterated that its policy requires in-person changes. The response was simple, McCarthy said.
"Well, then the pope is going to move his account to a different bank."
In the end, the bank made an exception.

Toys in cereal boxes are making a comeback. Remember digging in the box for the toy?
To celebrate the June 19 release of "Toy Story 5," Kellogg's is releasing a limited number of cereal boxes with toys, spoons and trading cards inspired by the popular animated movie franchise.

Select boxes of Froot Loops, Frosted Flakes, Corn Pops, Apple Jacks, Frosted Mini-Wheats, Rice Krispies, Corn Flakes and Cocoa Loops will feature toys, spoons, trading cards or movie ticket promotions, according to a news release.

Millions of years after the ancestors of humans evolved to lose their tails, a research team at Japan’s Keio University have built a robotic one they say could help unsteady elderly people keep their balance.
Dubbed Arque, the grey one-meter device mimics tails such as those of cheetahs and other animals used to keep their balance while running and climbing, according to the Keio team.
The robotic tail, which uses four artificial muscles and compressed air to move in eight directions, will remain in the lab for now, however, as researchers look for ways to make it more flexible, Nabeshima said.

Apart from helping the elderly get around, the team are also looking at industrial applications for the artificial appendage, such as a balance aid for warehouse workers carrying heavy loads.

Today's Useless Fact of the Day - It's National Devil's Food Cake Day.

Devil’s food cake was created to be the "rich, dark, and decadent" counterpoint to the light and airy "Angel Food Cake."
Early recipes were often a reddish-mahogany color rather than deep brown. Before modern food coloring, the chemical reaction between acidic cocoa powder and baking soda gave the cake a distinct red tint—which, to a 19th-century baker, looked a bit like the fires of the underworld. (essentially the parent of the Red Velvet cake)
Ingredient: Many bakers add hot coffee to the batter. The heat "blooms" the cocoa powder (releasing its full flavor), and the coffee acts as a flavor enhancer that makes the chocolate taste even deeper without actually making the cake taste like a latte.
