Today is World Unicorn Day.
Where did the legend actually come from? Historians trace the unicorn back to ancient Mesopotamian art, where it appeared as a slender, single-horned animal. The Greeks and Romans wrote about them as real creatures living in India. Medieval Europeans believed unicorn horns (actually narwhal tusks) could purify water and neutralize poison. Today, the unicorn represents magic, individuality, and — let's be honest — really good branding.

Remember your grandmother's floral-print sofas with the fabric that went all the way to the floor? It's back. Skirted upholstery—on dining chairs, sofas, beds, and even bathroom sinks—is the surprise decor trend of 2026, driven by Gen Z's obsession with "grandmacore"
Finally, furniture that hides clutter AND feels like a hug from Grandma. Plus, it's actually practical.

A jar of Nutella has officially traveled further than any spread in history. During NASA's Artemis II livestream, viewers watching the Orion spacecraft were stunned to see a jar of the Italian hazelnut spread floating past astronaut Christina Koch, rotating just enough to show off that iconic black lid and logo . The cosmic cameo happened just minutes before the crew was set to surpass Apollo 13's distance record. Social media exploded — engagements jumped from 6,000 to over 1.1 MILLION overnight. Nutella USA posted: "Honoured to have traveled further than any spread in history. Taking spreading smiles to new heights." One fan summed it up: "Even in space, there's room for chocolate-hazelnut joy."

The Puck Drop, from Canadian novelty company The One and Only, is an anonymous prank mail service that delivers handwritten messages on regulation-weight hockey pucks.

Senders choose from a menu of pre-written chirps — including options like "You're a pylon" (whatever that means) and "The league called. You're cut." — or submit a custom message up to 30 characters, which gets written on masking tape with a Sharpie and affixed to the puck. Orders ship in padded bubble mailers with no sender information included by default.
So I looked it up -
"You're a pylon" typically means that someone is acting as an obstacle or hindrance, similar to how a traffic pylon blocks a road. This phrase can imply that the person is being unhelpful or obstructive in a situation.

Today's Useless Fact of the Day - The first-ever webcam was created at the University of Cambridge in 1991 for one specific purpose: to monitor a coffee pot. Researchers were tired of walking to the breakroom only to find the pot empty, so they set up a camera that provided a 128x128 grayscale image of the coffee levels.
