2024 #1 Song of the Year - Lose Control Teddy Swims

The #1 song of the year is "Lose Control" by Teddy Swims. (I had this ion my radar last year)

It made it's debut at number 99 and peaked at number one in March 2024. This 32-week climb is the longest consecutive climb to number one of all time.

It spent 45 weeks in the Billlboard Hot 100 top ten, making it the second longest charting song.

It also made #1 on the AC, Adult Pop Airplay, and Pop Airplay charts. #8 R&B, #13 Rhyrhmic, #24 Rock Airplay, and #21 Club.

Year end thoughts.

I've struggled (as I do every year) with my top 5.. Strong contenders and depending on the day, hour, minute it all changes. I gave #1 to Teddy Swims which I remember hearing and liking at the end of last year. This song stayed around and is great in the original and dance version. It was a constant throughout the year.

Kylie did very well this year and in on two in my top 5. Just out of the top 5 is her turn with Orville Peck and Diplo this summer "Midnight Ride."

"Energy" represents all the Hard-House that I got into again this year. I played the crap out of this and it reminds me of "James Brown is Dead."

"Apt" got stuck in my head and is number 2.

So many great songs and a very strong fall with nothing struck me as the song of the summer.

I haven't heard a good "Defying Gravity" remix from the new movie, but I've added one from the Broadway Musical. These songs are just entrenched in my head right now.

Some other notes, there were two performances on SNL that blew me away. Justin Timberlake's far surpasses the album version of "Sanctified" and Jelly Roll's "Liar." I do enjoy Jelly Roll. Country has an influence.

Also "Lola's Theme" is a sample for "Work With My Love." Any song that uses it will be a fav of mine.
