The top kitchen gadget of February 2026 isn't an air fryer—it’s the "Ultrasonic C200" vibrating chef knife. Using high-frequency vibrations to cut through food with almost zero force, it’s the viral "must-have" for home cooks who take their meal prep way too seriously.

A new study published February 26 found that avoiding meat might slightly lower the odds of reaching 100—but only for frail, underweight seniors. In very old age, staying strong and maintaining muscle matters more than long-term disease prevention. The findings challenge conventional wisdom about plant-based diets and suggest that nutritional needs change dramatically in extreme old age, when maintaining strength becomes paramount.

Today's Useless Fact of the Day - 1879, chemists Constantine Fahlberg and Ira Remsen discovered Saccharin, the first artificial sweetener.
The discovery happened because Fahlberg was a bit messy. While working with coal tar derivatives in the lab, he forgot to wash his hands before going home to dinner. He noticed his bread tasted unusually sweet and traced the flavor back to the chemical residue on his fingers.
Despite being made from coal tar, it became a massive hit during WWI sugar shortages. It is roughly 300 to 400 times sweeter than regular sugar.
