The death of print magazines has been prophesied for years, but media giant IAC/InterActive Corp delivered a serious blow to glossies this week with the announcement that it's ending the print editions of Entertainment Weekly, InStyle, EatingWell, Health, Parents and People en Español.
The company told employees that the magazines will switch to online-only starting April. The news doesn't come as a total surprise, however, given that IAC's acquisition of Meredith last year was premised on turning many of its publications into digital-only brands. Dotdash Meredith CEO Neil Vogel said the transition will result in about 200 job losses.

Rapper Snoop Dogg is taking over Death Row Records, the label that helped him skyrocket to fame. Snoop was among the first artists to sign onto the label when it opened in the early '90s and recorded his classic hip-hop album "Doggystyle" with Death Row.
It sounds like Snoop is busy as ever - his new album "B.O.D.R." (short for Back on Death Row) drops today and he'll be one of the stars performing at halftime during the Super Bowl this Sunday.

Wordle players in Britain have taken offense — or “offence,” according to them — to the game’s preference for American English.
The free word-logic puzzle, developed by New York City-based software engineer Josh Wardle, is the latest viral trend among English language puzzlers on social media. The purpose of the game is to guess the correct five-letter word in only six attempts, using only the letters on the board as hints.
Game #235 “The Brits are gonna have a tough time with today’s wordle,” warned one Twitter user on Wednesday.
Spoiler alert: The word in question is “humor,” or “humour,” as they write on the other side of the pond.
It happened once before last month, the Independent reported, over the word “favor/favour.”

Rings, Hobbits, wizards, elves and even that creepy Gollum dude ... all things 'Lord of the Rings" are hitting the open market, but you're probably gonna have to outbid Jeff Bezos to get it.
Here's the deal ... The Saul Zaentz Company currently owns rights to the universe and characters created by J.R.R. Tolkien -- or almost all of 'em, anyway -- and has since 1976, but it's now reportedly ready to sell for at least $2 Billion!!!
Amazon is getting ready to roll out its "The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power" series on Prime.
Amazon bought its rights back in 2017 due to a loophole in SZC's ownership that allows for the sale of TV rights, as long as the series is longer than 8 episodes.
That means Amazon will be highly motivated to purchase everything else in the 'Rings' franchise to capitalize on what it hopes is a new blockbuster series on its streaming service.
$2 Billion, That's couch cushion money for Bezos.

In a survey, 48% of football fans said they'd like to see the Super Bowl moved to Saturday, and 14% admit that they've called in sick to work on the Monday after.
By the way, they also looked at internet search data, and named Kansas the state that's the most eager for the Super Bowl, based on the number of searches about the game. Colorado is second, followed by Missouri, Nebraska, and Utah.
Louisiana seems the least interested . . . followed by Mississippi, Kentucky, Alabama, and West Virginia. Interestingly, California . . . the home of the Rams . . . is just 26th. And Ohio . . . the home of the Bengals . . . is 32nd.

We make a big thing out of Valentine's Day every year, but apparently, most Americans wish we didn't. A new poll found Valentine's Day might actually be the least popular major holiday in America.
The poll matched Valentine's Day up against other major holidays and asked people which one they like better. For example, "Do you prefer Valentine's Day or Halloween?"
And Valentine's Day won none of its matchups.
That said, 10% of people like Valentine's Day more than Christmas, and 11% like it more than Thanksgiving.
According to the poll, our favorite holidays, in order are:
Christmas
Thanksgiving
Mother's Day
Fourth of July
New Year's
Halloween
Father's Day
Memorial Day
Labor Day
and Valentine's Day is last.

Yesterday, the 41st day of the year is the day, on average, that people abandon their New Year's resolutions.
40% say they're less motivated to change than they were on New Year's Eve.
29% say they're getting bored with sticking to the resolution.
28% say they're experiencing "complications." Basically, they're trying to imagine a Valentine's Day without sweets, or a Super Bowl party without booze, or, you know, any day with more exercising.

Today’s Useless Fact of the Day - There are four teams that have never played in the Super Bowl. The Detroit Lions, Cleveland Browns, Houston Texans, and Jacksonville Jaguars.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers were the only team to play in their home stadium. They earned that distinction after securing a spot in Super Bowl LV, which took place in Raymond James Stadium. But the Rams are playing at home this year, making it two in a row for the home team.
What's the Highest Scoring Super Bowl Game?
The San Francisco 49ers and San Diego Chargers combined for the highest total: 75 points in Super Bowl XXIX. The 49ers, led by Jerry Rice and Steve Young, came out on top, with a final score of 49-26.
