1986 - Back in the High Life - Steve Winwood

40 Years Ago - 1986 Steve Winwood released his fourth album Back in the High Life.

It won a Grammy for Best Engineered Non-Classical Album and was his biggest record at that time.

"Higher Love" was his first #1 and earned 2 Grammy Awards for Record of the Year and Best Male Pop Vocal Performance. It also made #7 AC and #1 Mainstream Rock. Whitney Houston covered it in 1990 as a bonus track on the Japanese edition of I'm Your Baby Tonight and Kygo remixed it in 2019 for a #1 Club hit.

"Freedom Overspill" charted at #20 and #4 Mainstream Rock. (wow, this is a lost track)

"Back in the High Life Again" includes backing vocals from James Taylor, made #13, #1 AC and #19 Mainstream Rock.

"The Finer Things" peaked at #8, #1 AC, #5 Mainstream rock.
