40 Years Ago - 1985 The Commodores released their eleventh album Nightshift.

It was their second without Lionel Richie and featured "Nightshift" which peaked at #3 and #1 R&B. It also made #6 Club.

It won a Grammy Award for Best Vocal R&B Performance by a Duo/Group.

"Animal Instinct" made #43 and #22 R&B.

"Janet" made #87, #65 R&B, #8 AC.
