1984 - Private Dancer - Tina Turner

40 Years Ago - 1984 Tina Turner released her fifth album Private Dancer.

In 2020, the album was selected by the Library of Congress for preservation in the National Recording Registry for being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant"

This was her first album with Capital Records.

"Let's Stay Together" is a remake of the Al Green song peaking at #26, #1 Club, #3 R&B.

"What's Love Got to Do with It" was a smash!!!!! Also winning Grammy's for Record of the Year, Song of the Year, and Best Female Pop Vocal Performance. #1 for three weeks, #8 AC, #21 Club, #2 R&B.

"Better Be Good to Me" peaked at #5, #16 Club, #6 R&B.

"Private Dancer" written by Dire Straits frontman Mark Knopfler peaked at #7, #30 AC, #3 R&B.

"I Can't Stand the Rain" was not an American single, but a great remake.

"Show Some Respect" peaked at #37, #50 R&B.
