40 Years Ago - 1982 Prince released his fifth album 1999.
His first album with the Revolution and his first top ten album.
"1999" was the first single released in 1982 and only made #44 on the Hot 100. It made #4 R&B and #1 Dance. It was released in 1983 and made #12 on the Hot 100.
The second single was "Little Red Corvette" making #6 #15 R&B and #17 Mainstream Rock Tracks. (interesting note, after Prince's death in 2016 the song re-charted making #20.)
"Let's Pretend We're Married" was the next American single making #53 on the Hot 100 and Dance charts and #55 on R&B.
In 2019 there was a Remaster Deluxe version with the original album, Promo Mixes & B-Sides, Vault Tracks, and Live tracks and DVD.
