1980 - Soundtracks - Xanadu, The Blues Brothers, & Urban Cowboy

45 Years Ago - 1980 The Xanadu Soundtrack was released.

Featuring one side of Olivia Newton-John and one side the Electric Light Orchestra.

The movie.....let's say is a cult favorite..the soundtrack is stellar!

"Magic" was a four week #1 Hot 100, also five weeks at #1 AC. It was also #3 for the year.

"I'm Alive" by ELO made #16, #48 AC.

"Xanadu" was a colab between ELO and Olivia peaking at #8, #2 AC.

"All Over the World" peaked at #13 and #46 AC.

"Suddenly" is a dreamy duet with Cliff Richard peakikng at #20 and #4 AC.

45 Years Ago - 1980 The Blues Brothers released their second album which was the Soundtrack to the Movie.

They got to work with Aretha Franklin, James Brown, and Cab Calloway.

The Blues Brothers held the world record for the most cars destroyed in one film.

"Gimme Some Lovin'" was the only single released peaking at #18.

45 Years Ago - 1980 The Urban Cowboy Soundtrack was released.

The movie starred John Travolta and Debra Winger.

It bosted a slew of hits, and older hits as well from The Eagles and Charlie Daniels Band.

The film is said to have started the 1980s boom in pop-country music known as the "Urban Cowboy Movement" also known as Neo-Country or Hill Boogie.

"All Night Long" by Joe Walsh peaked at #19.

"Stand By Me" by Mickey Gilley made #1 Country, #22 Hot 100, #3 AC.

"Love the World Away" by Kenny rogers made #14, #4 Country, #8 AC.

"Lookin' for Love" by Johnny Lee peaked at #1 Country, #5 Hot 100, #10 AC.

"Look What You've Done to Me" by Boz Scaggs made #14, #3 AC.

"Could I Have This Dance" by Anne Murray was a #1 Country Hit, #3 AC, #33 Hot 100.
