1974 - Second Helping - Lynyrd Skynyrd

50 Years Ago - 1974 Lynyrd Skynyrd released their second album Second Helping.

The album features their biggest single "Sweet Home Alabama" which peaked at #8.

It was written in response to Neil Young's 1970 song "Southern Man", which the band felt blamed the entire South for American slavery and Young is name-checked and dissed in the lyrics.

None of the three writers of the song were from Alabama.
