1974 - On the Border - Eagles

50 Years Ago - 1974 Eagles released their third album On the Border.

This is the first to feature Don Felder.

Three singles were released.

"Already Gone" peaked at #32.

"James Dean" peaked at #77.

"Best of My Love" was a #1 at Hot 100 and AC. Asylum Records had truncated the song so that it would be more radio-friendly, but had done so without the band's knowledge or approval. It caused considerable anger in the band, and Henley demanded that the single be pulled from stores.

Irving Azoff, sent to Asylum Records a gold record with a piece cut out, mounted on a plaque with a caption that said "The Golden Hacksaw Award".
