Yesterday, the first working Monday of 2025 means it's "Divorce Day" . . . the day of the year you're most likely to get dumped.

It's not clear if it's really true or not.  But stats show January probably does deserve the title of "Divorce Month."  A study in 2020 found Google searches for things like "quickie divorce" more than double every January.

Experts think it's because people tend to avoid breakups in November and December to just get through the holidays.  Or sometimes, all the holiday stress can be the final straw.

If your New Year's resolution was about health, here ya go . . .

"U.S. News & World Report"just put out its annual ranking of the healthiest diets to try this year.  And the same one sits at the top of the list for the eighth year running.

Here are the five they say are the healthiest diets overall.

1.  The Mediterranean Diet:  Limit sweets, processed foods, and red meat.  Eat lots of fruits, veggies, grains, nuts, and healthy fats like chicken and fish.

2.  The DASH Diet:  It's designed to lower blood pressure.  "DASH" stands for "Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension."

3.  The Flexitarian Diet:  You're mostly a vegetarian, but sometimes eat meat.

4.  The MIND Diet:  It's a mash-up of Mediterranean and DASH, with a focus on brain health.

5.  The Mayo Clinic Diet:  A three-month program for weight loss.  You eat balanced meals with smaller portions, and can't eat while watching TV.

The rest of their Top 10 are the TLC Diet . . . the Menopause Diet . . . Dr. Weil's Anti-Inflammatory Diet . . . Volumetrics . . . and the Cleveland Clinic Diet.

AskReddit's questions - "What's the proper etiquette if you win $5,000 on a lottery ticket Christmas gift?"  And here are the best responses:

Pretend nothing happened.  Say, "Oh darn, I lost" . . . while folding it up and putting it in your pocket.

Insist on privacy.  Resist the urge to scratch it off in front of everyone . . . even if you have to say you're going to wait to use your lucky penny or something.

Offer a kickback.  If it's a significant amount of money . . . in the thousands . . . you could take the giver out for dinner or drinks.

Maybe something a little less if the win was more modest . . . or MORE if the win was even bigger than that.

Pay it forward.  You buy them a lotto ticket.

Split it with the giver.  Several people say they'd give the gift-giver a cut . . . anywhere from 10% up to HALF.

Depends on the relationship.  If it's someone you like, share some of the winnings with them.  If it's someone you AREN'T that close with, keep it as a gift.

One person said, "My uncle gave us all lottery tickets, but filled his info in on the back, in case it was a winner."  Which is a joke . . . hopefully.

A new study has found that people perform better on cognitive tests when they have pooped just beforehand.

The study looked at both athletic performance where quick decision-making is necessary . . . and straightforward brain teasers, like being shown flashcards with the word "red" written in green ink, and being asked to quickly name the color.

It was a small-scale study, but 100% of the participants performed better after having a laxative-induced bowel movement, and most of them did better after having a natural Number Two.

The researchers believe "pooping gives your body more energy to spend on cognition and exercise intensity."  And they recommend pooping 60 to 90 minutes before a big event for better, faster, and smarter decision-making.

The owners of the "Breaking Bad" house in Albuquerque, New Mexico have been there for more than five decades.  But they've finally had ENOUGH.

They're selling the house because they're tired of all the attention it gets.  The house attracts an average 300 cars a day, and the family had to put up a fence to keep fans from getting too close . . . and tossing pizzas on the roof.

The value of the house is estimated at $350,000, but the family is asking $4 MILLION, thanks to its cultural significance.

Quintana says, quote, "I hope they make it what the fans want.  They want a BnB, they want a museum, they want access to it.  Go for it."

Today's Useless Fact of the Day - Neil deGrasse Tyson is one of the most famous astrophysicists in the world.  Turns out he's also a fantastic DANCER . . . and won a gold medal at a dance meet in 1985 doing Latin Ballroom for the University of Texas dance team.
