Chinese New Year or Lunar New Year
A celebration of the arrival of spring and the beginning of a new year on the lunisolar calendar. It is the most important holiday in China, and it is also widely celebrated in South Korea, Vietnam, and countries with a significant overseas Chinese population.
This is the Year of the Snake. Other years that are Snakes, 2013, 2001, 1989, 1977, 1965, and 1953. Sometimes called the little dragon year as it follows Year of the Dragon. The positive qualities associated with it include resilience, creativity, and adaptability, and thus an ability to overcome various obstacles or challenges. Individuals born in this year may also possess keen intelligence and good intuition.
One of the customs associated with the New Year celebrations include the giving of red envelopes containing money, usually by elders to younger members of the family. The red color, which is also featured prominently in New Year decorations, symbolizes prosperity and good fortune.
Here is the story on the animals and the race for the 12 signs of the Zodiac.

A team of researchers from the Harvard School of Public Health just released a new report, with data going back almost 50 years.
The bad news is that processed meats . . . like bacon, hot dogs, sausage, pepperoni, and ham . . . increase the risk of cognitive decline and dementia by 13%.
And that's even among participants who averaged just 0.25 servings per day. Or about two servings per week.
Experts say this "increased risk" could be reversed by replacing bacon with salmon, or any fish, really.

A recent study found even one-minute bursts of activity can get your heart rate up enough to help you live longer. Here are eight everyday things we don't think of as exercise, but they COUNT as exercise.
1. Taking the stairs. It's a classic one.
2. Gardening. Or any activity that's physical.
3. Carrying your shopping bags in. Or even better, walking to the store.
4. Running to catch a train or a bus. (Or, be original and run ON the bus.)
5. General cleaning. Just picking stuff up around the house if you do it quick.
6. Doing laundry. Lifting and folding can get your muscles working.
7. Sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming. Again, anything that gets you moving.
8. Just getting up and down a lot. The main goal is don't sit on your butt all day, especially as you get older.

Someone polled 2,000 single people to find the sexiest jobs in 2025. They broke it down by industry.
It's important because there's a good chance it'll come up on a first date. One in five people said they usually talk about their job within the first 30 minutes.
Healthcare workers took the top spot. Doctors, nurses, and other jobs in medicine.
1. Healthcare. Doctor was voted the sexiest job overall. Nurse is second.
2. Education. Teachers and professors.
3. First responders. Things like firefighters and paramedics.
4. Law. They also included cops in that one.
5. Business. Things like marketing and sales.
6. Science. Chemists, researchers, or anything that requires a science degree.
7. Tech. Things like data analysts and I.T.
8. Finance. Things like analysts, investors, and financial planners.
Even if your job isn't on that list, just being passionate about your career is sexy. According to the poll, here are the five sexiest career "VALUES" you can have.
1. A passion for what you're doing.
2. Prioritizing a good work/life balance.
3. Constantly trying to learn and improve.
4. Working well with others.
5. Wanting to make a positive impact on society.

Someone put together a list of the "most popular Super Bowl foods, by state." They analyzed internet "search volume data" in the weeks around last year's Super Bowl.
Despite 1,300 possibilities, every state had one of 14 foods as their #1 and pizza and burgers weren't the top food anywhere but "knoephla soup" was.
That's a German soup, which usually includes dumplings, potatoes, chicken, vegetables, and cream. It is #1 in North Carolina.

Buffalo chicken dip is America's favorite Super Bowl food by a landslide. It's the top-searched dish in 29 states in the Midwest, Northeast (Pennsylvania), and Southeast.
Baked potatoes are #1 in the second-most states, with FIVE: California . . . Oregon . . . Washington . . . Nevada . . . and Montana.
Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Mississippi want fried green tomatoes for the Super Bowl.
And some other favorites represented on the map include: Funeral potatoes, or cheesy potatoes . . . poke bowls . . . deviled eggs . . . hot dogs . . . baked ziti (New York). . . garlic knots . . . shakshuka . . .
And then there's the Spanish pastry sopapillas, which is #1 in New Mexico and crawfish étouffée, which is #1 in Louisiana.

Every year, PETA makes it very clear that they're NOT a fan of an ACTUAL groundhog . . . "Punxsutawney Phil" . . . being used on Groundhog Day. And they have offered suggestions on things to do instead.
This year, they have a pretty silly idea.
They say that if the Punxsutawney Groundhog Club agrees to retire Phil, permanently, to a "reputable animal sanctuary" . . . they'll provide a giant vegan "Weather Reveal" cake every year.
If the inside of the cake is blue, there will be six more weeks of winter . . . and if it's pink, there will be an early spring.
Of course, this has basically ZERO chance of happening.
(don't they know how horribly wrong gender reveal parties can go?)
