There are so many releases this month on anniversary years, here’s an extra post to cover the album that came out.
Today - 1978 and 1983 Ladies.
1978
Melissa Manchester released her seventh album Don't Cry Out Loud.
The original name for the album was Caravan but was changed to the first single.
The follow-up was "Through the Eyes of Love (Theme from Ice Castles)"
It only peaked at #76 but was a bigger AC hit at #13. It also was nominated for an Oscar for Best Original Song.

1983
Jennifer Holiday released her debut album Feel My Soul.
It was Grammy nominated for Best R&B Vocal Performance, Female.
Maurice White of EWF was the producer.
"Just Let Me Wait" was also a #24 R&B hit.
"Just Let Me Wait/Shine A Light/My Sweet Delight" were club hits at #43
Rita Coolidge released Never Let You Go.
Originally it didn't contain the theme song for the Bond movie Octopussy. Later pressings included "All Time High" which peaked at #36 on the Hot 100 and spent four weeks at #1 on the AC chart.
