New Year, New Anniversary Years. 1972, 77, 82, 87, 92, 97 etc.
My stats these years:
1972 I was in Homer NY, and in the 3rd & 4th grades. I would turn 10 in November. WKRT was a station in Cortland that I listened to.
1977 I was in Sodus NY, listening to Rochester and Syracuse radio. I was in 8th and 9th grade.
1982 Mount Union College in Alliance Ohio, Freshman and Sophomore years. Probably played many on WRMU.
The record companies are still off most of this month gearing up slowly, so we supplement with songs that were #1 on the Dance/Club/Disco Charts.
Dance Chart 1977 #1 - Thelma Houston - Don't Leave Me This Way.
A song written by Kenneth Gamble, Leon Huff, and Cary Gilbert originally released in 1975 by Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes featuring Teddy Pendergrass. Originally assigned to Diana Ross, it was intended to be the follow-up to her single "Love Hangover", but was reassigned to Houston instead. It won the award for Best R&B Vocal Performance, Female at the 20th Annual Grammy Awards.
