It's an exciting time of year! Fat Bear Week is here!

You can still get in the voting for the fattest bear of the year! Some of the largest brown bears on Earth make their home at Brooks River in Katmai National Park, Alaska. Brown bears get fat to survive and Fat Bear Week is an annual tournament celebrating their success in preparation for winter hibernation.
The bear with the most votes advances to the next round. Only one will be crowned Fat Bear Week champion.

In a random new poll, 57% of people say they carry their phone in their RIGHT pants pocket . . . 19% keep it in their LEFT pocket . . . 12% carry it in a BAG, like a purse or a "MURSE" . . .7% keep it in their BACK pocket . . .And 5% claim they carry it in their UNDERWEAR.
Women's clothing doesn't always get the same size pockets that men's clothing does . . . and they don't want to carry a purse around INSIDE the house, so they are either going to slip it in their waistband or in their bra.

People online are hyping a new trend called "heavy soda," which is apparently catching on at some gas station soda machines.
It isn't really "new" especially in south Missouri where it supposedly started but it's just now going viral on social media.
If a business has a soda fountain machine, they can sometimes adjust the settings to change the ratio of syrup. And places are INCREASING the syrup to maximize the sweetness, and then labeling it "HEAVY."
Some people are warning about the obvious health concerns . . . but there is a practical explanation too: "It's for people who buy a big soda in the morning. As the ice melts all day, 'heavy' ends up tasting normal instead of watery." (lame excuse)

Today’s Useless Fact of the Day - Harry S. Truman, Michael J. Fox, and Ulysses S. Grant all have middle initials that don't stand for anything.
Truman's S. was a compromise to honor both of his grandfathers.
Fox's is a tribute to his favorite character, Michael J. Pollard.
Grant's was a clerical error made when he was nominated to West Point.
His birth name was Hiram Ulysses Grant, but the Congressman who nominated him, Thomas Hamer, mistakenly used "Ulysses S." and assumed "Simpson" was his mother's maiden name. Grant kept the name because he was afraid correcting it would cause him to be rejected from the academy, and he even joked that the "S" stood for "nothing".
