Readers and educators across America are observing Banned Books Week by exploring restricted books and supporting their authors -- whether they are newly added to the ever-growing list of challenged works, or classics that have drawn controversy for decades.

The annual event has become increasingly important for the literary community as groups at the national, state and local levels continue to levy historic numbers of restrictions and challenges, especially against books with racial and LGBTQ+ themes.

As concern grows, more A-list authors and advocates are using their platforms to champion libraries and literacy, and to warn against what happens when literary horizons are narrowed.

Literacy groups are using the words of iconic "Reading Rainbow" host and children's author LeVar Burton as a banned books rallying cry. In June, Burton spoke forcefully against book bans during an appearance on "The View."

"I'll be absolutely candid and honest, it's embarrassing that we are banning books in this country, in this culture, in this day and age," he told "The View" hosts. "We have this aversion in this country to knowing about our past, and anything unpleasant we don't want to deal with. This is not going away. Nothing goes away, especially if you ignore it. So read the books they're banning. That's where the good stuff is. If they don't want you to read it, there's a reason why."

Glass Animals‘ former five-week Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 “Heat Waves” continues its impressive run on the survey, as it ties Imagine Dragons’ “Radioactive” for the second-most weeks spent on the chart in the list’s history.

“Heat Waves” spends an 87th total week on the latest Hot 100 (dated Sept. 24), at No. 17, matching the stay of “Radioactive,” in 2012-14.

The only song with more time spent on the Hot 100 is The Weeknd’s “Blinding Lights,” which ran up 90 weeks in 2019-21. Of those 90 frames, four were spent at No. 1; a record 43 in the top five; a record 57 in the top 10; a record 80 in the top 20; and a record 86 in the top 40. Its longevity eventually helped it earn the distinction as the No. 1 title on Billboard‘s Greatest of All Time Hot 100 Songs chart.

Over the course of your entire life, how many different email addresses do you think you'll use? Would you say it's more than 50?

A study found that for the average person, the answer is now 126. If that seems high, think back on how many you've already had.

That includes the first email you came up with . . . and the one you replaced it with, because having your birth year in there wasn't professional enough.

But also, any emails you had through schools you attended . . . all the jobs you've ever had . . . any website domains you bought . . . any side-hustles or small businesses you've started . . . and any dummy accounts you created just to sign up for stuff without getting spammed.

When you include all of those, 126 throughout your whole life might not seem so crazy

Before you marry someone you should first make them use a computer with super slow internet access to see who they truly are. Or I would say drive with them in the car.

Today's Useless Fact of the Day - Lemons float . . . and limes sink. Lemons and limes both have densities that are very close to water, but limes are slightly denser, which is why they sink.
