Wednesday 9/11/24
This is a day we remember the horrific events of 2021. I personally don’t want to see or dwell on the events of that day. I’d rather not see images or videos of the day.
It’s better to commemorate the day with these things.
Patriot Day
National Day of Service and Remembrance
National Emergency Responders Day
Remember Freedom Day
I Want to Start My Own Business Day
Libraries Remember Day
Make Your Bed Day
National Hot Cross Bun Day
National No News Is Good News Day
Women's Baseball Day

Selena Gomez has joined the Billionaires' Club. According to a new report, she's worth $1.3 billion with most of it (like Rihanna) coming from her Rare Beauty cosmetics brand.
At 32, she's one of the youngest female billionaires in the country.
The rest of her wealth comes from, quote, "her interest in [the mental health brand] Wondermind, the estimated value of her music album sales and properties . . .
"And earnings from streaming deals, brand partnerships, concert tickets, and acting."
Acting like in Only Murders in the Building.

Anyone catch Ryan Seacrest last night as he starts hosting Wheel of Fortune?
Game shows aren't just there to entertain you and help you pass time. They also sharpen your brain.
That's according to experts who say that they can boost your problem-solving skills, improve memory, and strengthen your mind.
Game shows make you pay close attention, quickly process information, and either problem-solve or recall knowledge.
As one neurologist puts it, quote, "This engages numerous networks in the brain in an engaging and enjoyable way, which also enhances learning."

The Reddit thread of the day is about the words that "visibly look the most beautiful."
Naturally, a common answer was "Boob," because it's "so round and curvy." Someone else noted that the capital "B" looks like the top view of the chest . . . the "oo" is the front view . . . and the last lowercase "b" is the side view.
It's also a palindrome, which people seem to like. Here are some others:
1. bed . . . "It even looks like a bed . . . even when capitalized, 'Bed.'"
2. Ohio . . . "It kinda looks like a tractor."
3. Velvet
4. Lyre . . . that's the instrument.
5. Soliloquy
6. Elixir
7. minimum
8. Ethereal . . . and ephemeral
9. Eloquent
10. awkward . . . "It looks awkward"
11. Bassoon
12. Psychedelic
13. Autumnal
14. Kaleidoscope
15. Cliffhanger, specifically in cursive. Someone else said, "I genuinely do doodle the "[F-word]" in cursive, often. It started out, me an edgy teen . . . but now I'm 33, and I sincerely find it aesthetically pleasing."

Britain's not-always-reliable tabloid "The Sun" claims that the 80s classic The Goonies is getting a sequel.
According to the rumor, the original "kids" are returning: Sean Astin, Corey Feldman, Ke Huy Quan, Josh Brolin, Jeff Cohen, Kerri Green, and Martha Plimpton.
A source says, quote, "'The Goonies' reboot has been talked about for a long time, but it's finally been given the go-ahead to move forward . . . "The team is excited about the opportunity to bring the magic of the original film to a new audience."
We shall see.

The candy company Brach's is giving people the opportunity to stay in an elaborate, candy corn-themed hotel suite this fall. The rooms are exclusively offered at two Great Wolf Lodge locations . . . one in the Pocono Mountains in Pennsylvania and one in Gurnee, Illinois.
You can book your stay NOW, but only while there's availability between September 22nd, which is the first day of fall, and Halloween.
The rooms are being offered on a first-come first-served basis . . . they sleep five to six guests . . . and the rates start at $349 per night.
The suite is decked out top-to-bottom in orange, yellow, and white . . . along with actual candy corn designs.
And yes, it's fully stocked with Brach's candy corn.

August 31st was National Eat Outside Day, and that inspired a website to research the best and worst cities for picnics . . . based on things like climate, park accessibility, safety, and walkability, plus local laws and regulations.
They considered 500 cities, and two Los Angeles-area cities came out on top: Thousand Oaks and Irvine. Honolulu was third, followed by Seattle . . . Tucson, Arizona . . . San Diego . . . Simi Valley, California . . . and Phoenix.
The actual WORST place for a picnic out of 500 cities is: Fayetteville, North Carolina. Jackson, Mississippi was the second-worst, followed by Beaumont, Texas. The lowest-ranked big city is Detroit at #455.
Jellystone Park, home of the pin-a-nic basket stealing bear Yogi is a fictional place so not on the list.

A guy went viral for a video he made about how the spices cinnamon and cumin should not be in the same color jars (his are almost identical). . . because they have too many letters in common. He said he accidentally made "fajita-spiced oatmeal."
That story was VERY relatable, and people started commenting with their own early-morning fails . . . some even mixed up the same spices.
The guy posted an update, and said commenters told him about their: "Cumin and sugar toast" . . . "banana bread with a hint of cumin" . . . "fajita granola" . . . and "cumin-sprinkled tres leches."
Someone else did the reverse, creating "fall-flavored guacamole" . . . a person made "cinnamon hummus" . . . and someone else put cayenne in their oatmeal.
Spices aren't the only containers that look the same. Someone said they put chicken stock in their morning smoothie instead of almond milk . . . another person spayed hairspray under their armpits.
And one parent put toothpaste on their baby's butt instead of diaper cream.

Today’s Useless Fact of the Day - The worst shutout loss in NFL regular season history came in 1934, when the Cincinnati Reds lost to the Philadelphia Eagles, 64-0. The Reds were kicked out of the league after that game and never played again.
