The side of the bed we sleep on, our hair stylist and our supermarket are among the things we are reluctant to change. A survey of adults found eight in 10 of us are self-proclaimed creatures of habit.
The things we wouldn’t want to change:
1. Preferred hair stylist
2. Preferred supermarket
3. Friends
4. Side of bed I sleep on
5. Sports team I support
6. How I have my coffee/tea
7. My preferred coffee/tea brand
9. Milk type (e.g whole, oat, etc)
10. My go-to carry-out meal

The famous 57 in "Heinz 57" doesn't mean anything. It's not a year, or a number of ingredients or "varieties."
Andrea Payne, the head of marketing at Heinz, says, "The '57 varieties' label was surprisingly selected at random by founder Henry Heinz in 1896 . . .
"The number itself technically has no real purpose even back then, there were more than 57 varieties."
The company has talked about this before, and there's a quote online about how Heinz said he chose "5" because it was his lucky number . . . and the number "7" was his wife's lucky number.
However, he's also said the number "7" was selected specifically because of the "psychological influence of that figure and of its enduring significance to people of all ages" . . . whatever that means.

Several players at the U.S. Open have complained about the smell of cannabis wafting into the tennis venue in New York City. “Court 17 definitely smells like Snoop Dogg’s living room,” said 12th-seed Alexander Zverev. A security staffer at the park advised players not to get worked up by it. "It might help you relax," he said.

Someone went through the Social Security Administration's official list of baby names from last year, and cherry picked the weirdest ones.
Each name was given to at least one baby in 2022, but not more than 10. Here are the highlights
The weirdest girls names include: Minnow . . . Banksy . . . Delight . . . Katniss, like the "Hunger Games" character . . . Sparkle. . . Pearly . . . Menorah . . . Canary . . . Bethlehem . . . Chai, as in the tea . . . Strawberry. . . and finally, Cinderella.
The boys list is equally odd: Barley . . . Dragon . . . Texas . . . Utah . . . Daytona . . . Fender . . . Clever . . . Gilead from "Handmaid's Tale" . . . Cotton . . . Rooster . . . Chaos . . . Ruckus . . . Crash . . . Forbes . . . Lancelot . . . and finally, just the word "Awesome".

Stephen Colbert, Jimmy Fallon, Jimmy Kimmel, Seth Meyers, and John Oliver have teamed up to do a podcast called "Strike Force Five".
All proceeds will benefit their staffers who are out of work because of the writers' strike. It launched the other day on all major platforms and there will be at least 12 episodes.
They'll be discussing the ongoing strike and taking turns leading the conversation. They got the idea to do the podcast after having weekly check-ins with each other on Zoom.

Dolly Parton has been in England promoting her "Rockstar" album. And she's not goofing around. Her schedule is packed so tight that she turned down a visit with Royalty. It came up during an interview with the BBC.
Quote, "This time, Lordy, I even got invited to have tea with Kate [Middleton]. And I felt so bad that I couldn't go because they had all this stuff set up . . . but I thought that was very sweet and nice of her to invite me to tea.
"One of these days I'm gonna be able to do that. That would've been great. But she wasn't gonna promote my rock album, so I had to say no. [Laughs] I hope she hears [the record] though."

Today's Useless Fact of the Day - The color mauve was discovered by accident. A chemist saw a purplish-magenta color when he was trying to make a medicine to treat malaria in 1856, and realized it would be a great dye.
Mauve comes from the French word mallow, the color resembled the purple marking on the petals of the mallow plant.
