Generational squabbling is fun. Older folks love complaining about how kids these days wouldn't be able to function in 1971. And the younger generations whine about how Boomers aren't able to function . . . now.
Reddit has put out yet another list of "common skills" that Boomers are "shocked" that Gen Z'ers don't know. And here are some of them:
1. How to read a map and figure out directions without GPS.
2. How to address a piece of mail.
3. How to unclog a toilet using a plunger.
4. How to tell time on a clock with hands.
5. How to count correct change.
6. How to type on an actual keyboard.
7. How to mend clothes and sew on buttons.
8. How to cook.
9. How to do "basic handyman skills" . . . like "simple outlet replacement, changing a light fixture, or installing a shelf on the wall."
10. How to write a check.
11. How to use a manual can opener.
12. How to write in cursive.
13. How to drive stick shift.
14. How to read Roman numerals.
15. How to use non-mobile technology. Seriously . . .
One senior said, "I'm not kidding. Young people who have mostly only used phones haven't the slightest idea where a file went if they downloaded it or what to do with a PDF.

Results of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame fan vote are in, and the winner is Phish, with 330,000 votes.
Bad Company came in second with 281,000, followed by Billy Idol with 260,500.
Cyndi Lauper finished fourth with 237,000, and Joe Cocker rounds out the Top 5 with 234,000. The rest of the Top 10, in this order, is Soundgarden, Chubby Checker, the Black Crowes, Mariah Carey, and Joy Division/ New Order.
The fan vote doesn't have a ton of influence on who makes the Hall.
It only counts for a single ballot, among roughly 1,200 that are cast. But there's only one year when the winner of the fan vote didn't make the Hall: It was the Dave Matthews Band in 2020. But they got in four years later.
This year's inductees will be announced this Sunday night on "American Idol".

World Book Day was yesterday. The U.N. made it an official holiday in 1995 on William Shakespeare died 409 years ago in 1616.
So, what was the last book YOU read? If you can't remember, you're not alone. A poll found a third of Americans haven't read a book in at least a year.
63% of us would like to read more, and 66% have a collection of books at home . . . probably lined up on a shelf like little trophies.
Here are our top five excuses for not reading as much as we'd like to . . .
1. "I don't have enough time because of other life activities." 43% agreed.
2. "I prefer other forms of entertainment," 32%. Like TV, video games, or TikTok.
3. "I don't have enough time because of work," 25%.
4. "I don't have enough time because of my kids." 25% of parents blame their offspring for making them a bad reader.
5. "I have trouble focusing while reading," 22%.
People who do read were asked to name their favorite types of books, and one category won by a mile: 37% listed "thriller, crime, or mystery" as a favorite genre.
"Historical nonfiction" (24%)
biographies (21%)
historical fiction (21%)
fantasy (20%).
Sci-fi, self-help, and romance also made the top 10.

Food social media is filled with tips and tricks on how to pack your diet with protein.
Parmesan Reggiano is known to be a high-protein cheese, with more than 10 grams of protein per ounce.
And put the two together for a TikTok trend.

In one TikTok, a woman is sitting in her car, unwrapping a full wedge of parmesan, and the caption says, "I'm over protein bars. Switching to full blocks of parmesan." And she just bites it off the block.
Experts say that parmesan is a solid protein source . . . but it's NOT great for binge-snacking, because of its higher fat and sodium levels. If you do add it to your diet, they suggest "pairing it with fiber-rich foods for balance."

Even though Carrie Underwood is now a judge on "American Idol", the anxiety of being a contestant has never left her.
She posted a funny video where they were at the judges table and about to start rolling and she said, "For the record, the 'American Idol' music gives me anxiety. I get this flash of fear in my heart, like nervousness. Because it's the same. PTSD."
And she's right, while many things have changed on "Idol" over the years, the one constant is that dramatic intro music.
Which means that you're never free from the stress of being a contestant on that show. Even when your net worth is $120 million.

A dog named Juno came from behind at the last second to win an annual corgi race in England over the weekend. It's in honor of Queen Elizabeth, who owned over 30 corgis throughout her life.
See the race here. (purple is a menace and should be disqualified)

Today’s Useless Fact of the Day - The Masters Golf Tournament just finishe this year, and golfers who win get to keep their green jacket for a year . . . but then they have to return it. It gets put in a closet, and then they can wear it whenever they visit from that point on.
