You don't truly know someone until you hear their most controversial cooking take. Do they wash their chicken? Do they add sugar to their spaghetti? These are all crucial things to know about someone.

Buzzfeed posted people sharing their "I'll die on this hill cooking options"

ree

"I know you're not supposed to break long pasta in half, but I do it anyway. It cooks more evenly – the entire strand gets immersed in the boiling water as soon as I throw the bundle of pasta into the pot – and it's easier and less messy to eat."

"Stop washing your chicken. You're spreading germs for no reason. Just pat dry with a paper towel before cooking! Also, gloves aren't as hygienic as bare hands — just wash your damn hands.

"I really enjoy my cakes and cookies frozen, especially blueberry cake. In my house, almost all baked goods are stored in the freezer."

"Use measuring tools for baking. Use hand or finger measurements for cooking."

"I have never toasted bread in a toaster, always in a pan. It just tastes so much better!"

"Nuts do not belong in desserts."

"I microwave my corn on the cob. It’s much faster and still tastes really good. I never do it any other way; this is my go-to way of cooking corn." (this is me)

"Beans do not belong in chili."

"Salted butter in everything. Granted, I'm not a pastry chef, but salted butter gives my cookies and muffins much more depth of flavor."

"Cook bacon in the oven. Always." (yes yes yes..keeps the stove top clean!)

"Any amount of recommended garlic is purely a suggestion, and the amount of garlic that ends up in the actual end product is going to be amazing."

"Sugar goes in spaghetti. Sorry, not sorry."

A new study found that the average American begins their "nighttime routine" at 10:15 P.M.

On average, it takes 21 minutes to get ready for bed . . . so that happens at around 10:36.  Then, it takes more than 40 minutes before people actually fall asleep . . . and the average person falls asleep at 11:18 P.M.

The average person reports they have THREE mornings per week when they wish they'd gone to sleep earlier.

The top excuses for why they didn't include:  Needing to get chores done . . . they're night owls who like being up late . . . they don't want to sleep and "fast-forward" to the next workday . . . and they "want to connect with their partner."

And since it's August now:  Parents of school-age children generally get less sleep when their kid goes back to school.  53% of them say they have to get up earlier to get their kids ready . . . and about 25% say they have to stay up later to prepare lunches or help their kids with homework.

A financial exchange called Kalshi thinks Jay-Z is the odds-on favorite to headline the 2026 Super Bowl Halftime Show.  Out of almost two dozen possibilities, he has a 28% chance of getting the gig.

Or, to be more accurate . . . of giving himself the gig, since it's basically his call.

Jay is followed by Post Malone at 25%, Miley Cyrus at 23%, Bad Bunny at 14%, and Metallica at 13%.

Further down the list are Morgan Wallen, Dua Lipa, Sabrina Carpenter, Taylor Swift, Drake, Billie Eilish, and the Foo Fighters.

Can you guess what the dirtiest part of your fridge is?  Even if you cleaned it out yesterday, this one spot might still be filthy . . .

"Reader's Digest" talked to a health expert who said the spot most of us rarely clean is . . . the handle of your fridge.

They're covered in germs for the same reason as doorknobs.  We just touch them a lot.  And you probably don't touch many door handles right after handling raw chicken.

A study in 2022 found it's the second-filthiest spot in the average kitchen.  Sinks are #1.  Lots of handles tested positive for salmonella, E. coli, and even staph.

So how often should you be cleaning it?  Several experts they talked to said daily is okay,  but really, you should disinfect the handle of your fridge and freezer every time you cook.

YouTuber Ryan Trahan just finished a pretty crazy stunt last month.  He and his wife went on an epic road trip to raise money for St. Jude's.  They visited all 50 states in 50 days, and hoped to raise $1 million along the way.  They ended up raising over $11.5 million.
