The U.S. has confirmed its first human case of the New World screwworm, a flesh-eating parasite whose northward creep from South America has put the country's cattle industry on high alert in recent months.
It's in a patient who had returned from travel to El Salvador.The New World screwworm is a species of parasitic flies typically found in South America and the Caribbean, according to the CDC. Infestation occurs when fly larvae feed on the tissue or flesh of warm-blooded animals, primarily livestock and, rarely, humans.

A new study shows that coffee can boost your mood, even on Mondays. Regular caffeine drinkers report feeling "happier and more enthusiastic" after a cup . . . and that joy lingers for more than two hours.
There is one big caveat though: The only people in the study were "habitual caffeine users." So it's possible that the positive feelings were just a rush from "getting your fix." Or a "reversal of withdrawal symptoms."
Previous studies have shown that about one cup of coffee every four hours can give you a boost. But you shouldn't overdo it . . . four cups per day should be the max. That is the equivalent of about 300 milligrams of caffeine.

There's still no word on the cast for Season 51 of "Saturday Night Live", but Lorne Michaels says we can expect a pretty big shakeup. Particularly because they couldn't do it last year.
Quote, "There couldn't be those kind of disruptions, or anything that was going to take the focus off [the 50th season]. And we had an election."
He says the new cast will be announced "in a week or so."
Only ONE cast member is confirmed to return and it's James Austin Johnson, who plays President Trump. (surprise)
