Madrid’s iconic high heel race returned to the streets of Chueca as part of the city’s annual LGBTQ+ Pride celebrations. Competitors dashed through the neighborhood on a cobblestone street, in at least 6" heels while crowds cheered them on in one of Pride’s most colorful and lighthearted traditions. The event, now in its 27th year, celebrates self-expression, humor and community, and probably a few trips to the emergency room!!!

Most people know sitting too much isn’t great for health in general, but a new study of more than 91,000 people suggests cancer risk may hinge on how long people sit at a time, not just how much. Long, unbroken stretches of sitting were associated with a higher risk of dying from cancer, while shorter bursts of sitting, broken up by regular movement, were associated with a lower risk of cancer death and of some obesity-related and diabetes-related cancers.
Swapping sitting time for light, moderate, or vigorous activity, even folding laundry or a short walk, was linked to lower cancer risk.
The pattern held regardless of body weight, suggesting movement breaks may be worth it for nearly everyone, not just people who are already active.

The say paint can change a room...well, here you go!
The decade-long retail obsession with sterile, cool gray paint and bright white minimalist kitchens is officially dead for home decor. Current interior design metrics show a massive consumer pivot toward "Nouveau Riche" aesthetics. Homeowners are completely wrapping their rooms in dense, highly textured luxury. The top-trending colors dominating home renovations right now include deep mulberries, dark chocolates, and warm mustard yellows—often using a "color drenching" technique where the walls, trim, and ceilings are painted the exact same moody tone.

Pringles is rolling out a first-of-its kind product: “pop dog buns.”

The limited-edition potato-based buns are 7.5 inches long, packaged in Pringles cans and come in three of the chip brand’s flavors: Sour Cream & Onion, BBQ and Honey Mustard.
The Sour Cream & Onion variety is described as offering “all the tangy, savory and creamy flavors fans know and love. The BBQ bun is “a little smoky with a touch of sweetness.” And the Honey Mustard “combines the sweetness of honey with the tang of mustard.”
Find them at OnceYouPopMarket.com and Pringles’ Instagram and Facebook Shops, while supplies last.

If you’ve been watching and following the World Cup, you might be able to tell me at least one player. But if was just a normal year, you would probably say, Cristiano Ronaldo, one of the most legendary scorers in the history of soccer.
He left the pitch for the last time at a World Cup, after Spain proceeded into the World Cup quarterfinals Monday with a 1-0 defeat of Portugal. 41 Year Old Ronaldo, burst into tears, soaking up the final moments of the game. “I'm at peace,” he said. “I've given my best.”

A Golden Sebright chicken from Maine turns 16 this month (July). In April Gertie was recognized by Guinness World Records as the oldest living chicken. Frank Turek, her owner, brought Gertie the chicken home as a chick in 2010. Despite her small size, Gertie emerged as the leader of the flock, which has seen multiple additions and losses over the years. A few years ago, she began to lose her sight, prompting Turek to relocate her to an indoor coop in 2024 for her safety. Turek says Gertie enjoys the company of humans and responds to her name with vocalizations.

Today's Useless Fact of the Day - On this day in 1796, the US State Department issued the very first official American passport. Back then, they didn't require photographs, and the documents were printed on massive, unwieldy 11x17-inch sheets of paper.
