The big controversy from the opening ceremony, and over the weekend on social media, was when people mistook the “interpretation of the Greek God [of wine and festivity] Dionysus” to make “us aware of the absurdity of violence between human beings.” as the last supper.

It's based on a painting called BANQUET OF THE GODS, from the 1700's, it is a depiction of an ancient festival from Greek mythology which pre-dates Christianity by about 1000 years.

Overall, the Opening Ceremony went off without a hitch aside from the rain. This was the first time it's rained during an Olympics Opening Ceremony since 1952.

"Bob the Cap Catcher," who went viral after American swimmer Emma Weber lost her cap in the pool. Bob went in after it in just a skimpy little speedo. Obviously, he quickly became an INTERNET ICON.

If Halloween wasn't so cold, that would make a good costume!

If you're watching the Olympics and wishing YOUR body looked like that, give yourself a break.

Someone talked to fitness and body-image experts who say it's just not realistic for most people.  And thinking like that can actually be unhealthy.

Olympic athletes are in the best shape they'll ever be in because they're in the prime of their life and it's ALL they focus on.

One expert put it like this:  You'd never expect someone to be as good as you are at YOUR job if they only did it three hours a week.

They say if you find yourself feeling self-conscious while watching the Olympics, just look around your home and consider what you have . . . your hobbies, family, friends, and pets.

If you spent as much time working out as Olympians do, you might not have ANY of those things.  So, there's a trade-off.

Have you heard of "aura points"?  No?  Wow . . . you just lost SO many aura points.

Gen Z'ers are using them in a jokey way to track how "cool" they are.  For example, someone posted a video of a girl pushing on a door that's a "pull" and captioned it, "Negative 1,000 aura points."

Some BIG news in the Marvel Cinematic Universe was announced Saturday at Comic-Con in San Diego:  Robert Downey Jr. is BACK!!!

But he won't be returning as Iron Man.

Downey will be playing the VILLAINOUS Victor von Doom . . . a.k.a. "Doctor Doom" . . . in the next two "Avengers" movies, "Avengers: Doomsday" and "Avengers: Secret Wars".

He was revealed onstage among a group of people cloaked wearing Doctor Doom masks.  He emerged from the back in a green suit and took off HIS mask and said, quote, "New mask, same task . . .

"What did I tell ya?  I like playing complicated characters."

Around 3,200 new words and terms, many that originated on the internet, have been added to the Cambridge Dictionary this year, including "ick" and "boop".

“ick” is “a sudden feeling that you dislike someone or something or are no longer attracted to someone because of something they do.”

'Boop' - a gentle hit or touch on a person's or anima's nose or head, showing that you like them or as a joke.

Chef's Kiss, Porch Piracy, Side Quest, Face Journey (a series of expressions that appear on someone's face showing different emotions that they are experiencing as a reaction to something), Go Over to the dark side, and Copypasta (a text that is shared many times on the internet, especially a block of text that is often copied and pasted.)

Today's Useless Fact of the Day - From 1921 to 1936, Lichtenstein and Haiti had the same flag . . . without realizing it.  They didn't find out until the 1936 Olympics, and afterwards, Lichtenstein added a yellow crown.
