Hurricane Beryl strengthened to Category 5 status late Monday fueled by the Atlantic's record warmth.

Beryl made landfall on the island of Carriacou in Grenada as the earliest Category 4 storm in the Atlantic, then late in the day the National Hurricane Center in Miami said its winds had increased to Category 5 strength.

Beryl strengthened from a tropical depression to a major hurricane in just 42 hours, which only six other Atlantic hurricanes have done, with Sept. 1 as the previous earliest date, according to hurricane expert Sam Lillo.

It also was the earliest Category 4 Atlantic hurricane, besting Hurricane Dennis, which became a Category 4 storm on July 8, 2005. Beryl later became the earliest Category 5 observed in the Atlantic basin on record, and only the second Category 5 hurricane in July after Hurricane Emily in 2005. the National Hurricane Center said.

Beryl also marked the farthest east that a hurricane has formed in the tropical Atlantic in June, breaking a record set in 1933, according to Philip Klotzbach, Colorado State University hurricane researcher.

Amazon Prime Day is later this month on July 16th and 17th.  But even with a deal, think twice about anything on this list . . .

A new poll asked 4,700 Americans if they've ever REGRETTED buying certain things.  It looked at categories instead of specific products.  Here are the top things we've had buyer's remorse with.

1.  Clothes.  34% of us have bought an item of clothing and regretted it.

2.  Gifts.  26% have bought something for someone else, and wished they'd gone another route.

3.  Electronics, 24%.

4.  A vehicle, 22%.

5.  Furniture, 16%.

6.  Fitness equipment, 10%.  Because you probably never used it.

7.  Jewelry, 10%.

8.  A house, 8%.  51% overall said they've made at least one MAJOR purchase that they ended up regretting.

9.  A vacation, 7%.

10.  A wedding, 4%.

Women were more likely than men to say they bought clothes they didn't like.  Men were more likely to regret buying a gadget.

One in five people overall said they don't regret any purchases they've ever made.

A Long Island deli called Seven Brothers Gourmet recently added a "Pickle Sandwich" to the menu . . . a hoagie with a pickle as the bun.

They slice a pickle lengthwise.  Then they scoop out the middle to make room, and stuff it with meat, cheese, lettuce, bacon, and whatever else you want.

They started selling it in January.  But it only blew up a few weeks ago after someone posted about it on TikTok.

They're not even the first to do it.  Another deli an hour east of them was already selling a pickle sandwich.  But they didn't get the TikTok boost.  The owners of Seven Brothers say they're currently selling about 250 of them a day, with lines out the door.

They're easy enough to make yourself.  So, could pickle sandwiches be the trendy food this summer?

The fifth and FINAL season of "Stranger Things" will be eight episodes long . . . but they'll be LONG episodes.

Maya Hawke, you know her as Robin, says, quote, "We're making basically eight movies.  Season 4 and Season 5 are very connected . . .

"Our showrunners, Matt and Ross [Duffer], take a lot of responsibility . . . They are very intense and serious about the quality of the continued writing, and so it takes a long time to write each season, and a long time to shoot them."

"Stranger Things" Season 5 is expected to come out sometime next year.

Cup Noodles dropped another new ramen flavor, specifically meant for summer.

We mentioned the deadly blowfish flavor hitting stores in Japan last week. So it's at least gotta be better than THAT, right?  It's debatable.

This one IS available in the U.S.  Their newest ramen flavor is . . . Cup Noodles Campfire S'MORES.

They describe the taste as a "blend of decadent chocolate, marshmallow, and graham cracker flavors with a smokey note."  They suggest topping it with crushed-up graham crackers and mini marshmallows.

They say it's perfect for anyone who wants to "satisfy that need for more s'mores" this summer.  And "no campfire necessary," just pop it in the microwave.

A guy from Tennessee was scratching off a $20 lottery ticket in a store, and told the clerk that if he hit the jackpot, he'd never eat baloney again.  We'll see if he's a man of his word, because it hit for $1 million.

Boston added googly eyes to five metro trains, just for fun.  There'd been a public campaign calling for it to happen.  They say it's one of many "creative ways" they're trying to improve things for commuters.

Today's Useless Fact of the Day - There's a "Guinness World Record" for most prolific cannibal.  It's a tribal chief from Fiji in the 1800s named Ratu Udre Udre who ate between 872 and 999 people.
