The 2024 Paris Olympics are set to kick off this week on July 26 and will run until August 11.

Already the Olympians have descended upon the French capital and excitement is beginning to build.

But some have questioned why Snoop Dogg, 52, is involved in the sporting competition.

It was revealed today that the artist will follow Halle Berry’s footsteps from last month and carry the Olympic flame through Saint-Denis, in the North of Paris later this week.

He's also a special US correspondent for NBC and Peacock and plans to give some ‘Snoop style’ to the gig.

Reddit has a list of "the most useless things that people have memorized" over their lifetimes . . . and chances are, you can relate.  Here are some of the best ones:

Old phone numbers from your childhood that don't exist anymore.

Old friends' birthdays, like from high school.  One person said, "It's really annoying.  I look at the calendar and I'm like, 'Oh today is [this person's] birthday.  And I haven't spoken to them for years or even decades.'"

Old locker combinations.

Your old classroom seating chart.

One person said, "I remember my 3rd Grade teacher's favorite color."

The first Wi-Fi password you had . . . even back when they were a string of random letters and numbers.

The alphabet backwards.

All the U.S. presidents in order.

How to spell "Mississippi."

Every single country flag.

If you've worked in a grocery store:  Produce codes (4011 is bananas).

How to play "Hot Cross Buns" on a recorder.

How to play "Chopsticks" on the piano.

The steps to fold an origami crane.

The theme song to "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air". The theme song to "Gilligan's Island". Or any other theme song.

The "Macarena".

Lines from old plays and literature readings from school . . . like a speech from "Hamlet".

The spell to summon Captain Planet.

The codes for special moves or cheats in video games.

The rules of the game "Tag".

Old advertising jingles, like JG Wentworth:  877-CASH-NOW and "It's my money, and I need it now!"  . . . Mentos:  "Fresh and full of life!" . . .

McDonald's:  "Two all beef patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles, onions, on a sesame seed bun" . . . the 1-877-KARS-4-KIDS song . . . and 588-2300-EMPIRE:  "TODAY!"

Pneumonic devices -

planets - my very energetic mother just served us nine pickles

I don't know what this is - be am is are was were being been

A guy in Massachusetts had a dream about buying a specific type of lottery ticket for $10.  So he woke up, popped in to a 7-Eleven to buy one, and it hit for $1 MILLION.

You've heard of Christmas in July, so why not other holidays?

Reese's Peanut Butter PUMPKINS have arrived a full three months before Halloween.  It's the earliest Hershey has ever put them out.  But you won't see them in stores just yet.

It's a limited-release thing for people who prefer them over normal Reese's cups. The chocolate-to-peanut butter ratio is different, apparently.

Hershey's is in the middle of a big class-action lawsuit over the pumpkins right now.  In May, four people sued in federal court, accusing them of misleading customers, because the pumpkins don't really have faces.

The packaging shows them as jack-o-lanterns, but they're blank chocolate on top.  The people behind the suit claim they were "very disappointed" by it.  They're seeking "at least $5 million in damages."

(Really....for heaven's sake people..get a hobby!)

There's a reboot of the 1997 horror flick "I Know What You Did Last Summer" in the works, and it's supposed to hit theaters NEXT summer.

Jennifer Love Hewitt and Freddie Prince Jr., who starred in the original, are also in talks to return.

Which makes this less of a "reboot" and more of a "legacy sequel", like the recent "Scream", "Halloween", and "Exorcist" movies.

Virtual reality players are suffering REAL-LIFE injuries.  The most common VR-related injury is a fracture . . . followed by lacerations, contusions, and strains or sprains.

A study published last year found just 125 incidents of VR-related injuries were reported to emergency rooms in 2017. By 2021, that figure was estimated at 1,336.

One of the issues is disorientation. A doctor says it's like walking around in the dark. it's just a different sensation of where your body is.

Today’s Useless Fact of the Day - The famous British "Keep Calm and Carry On" posters that have been parodied a million times were never distributed.  They made the posters in 1939 but decided not to distribute them because they thought it might cause a panic.
