Stephen Colbert and CBS announced that the "Late Show" was being canceled, following one more season, which will run through next May.  After that, Stephen won't be replaced they're just ending it altogether.

CBS said, "We consider Stephen irreplaceable and will retire 'The Late Show' franchise after 33 years . . . this is purely a financial decision against a challenging backdrop in late night.  It is not related in any way to the show's performance, content, or other matters happening at Paramount." (right..)

In a new report, 44% of working adults believe that an "active social media presence" is more likely to hurt someone's career than help.

You don't even have to be sharing "controversial" content or opinions . . . it's possible that some hobbies could paint you in a certain light . . . being an "over-sharer" . . . or wannabe "influencer."

That said, 37% still believe social media is more likely to be an advantage.

Either way, about 70% of employers admit to using social media to research applicants . . . and 57% of those saying they've found materials that caused them to move away from a candidate.

Also:  Younger adults were more likely to consider an active social media life an ASSET that can boost your career.  Older folks were more likely to say it could be a red flag.

HOA's are a nightmare.

An Arizona homeowner has been repeatedly fined $100 for handing out free cold water bottles to neighbors over the past year, forcing him to take drastic measures against his homeowners association.

David Martin’s five years of kindly providing refreshing water in his Goodyear, Ariz., driveway have caused tension between him and the HOA in the Canyon Trails community.

He was fined $50, Martin refused to pay the bill and was fined $100 for non-compliance three months in a row.

“Here we are in July, the hottest day of the year, and we are still talking about a water cooler with free cold water,” said Martin. “It’s ridiculous that they are adding violations to a total that’s not going to get paid because I’m giving out free water.”

“I stand firm on the fact that I’m not paying the fines. The cooler is not going anywhere, and I’ll fight it.”

The clever homeowner found a workaround to avoid the pesky board’s fines — a democratic coup.

Martin refused to pay the bill and was fined $100 for non-compliance three months in a row.

Martin began circulating a petition around his neighborhood to get 100 signatures and boot three board members from their seats.

“I am hoping with three new board members that get elected, they’ll see that wasting time and money on a water cooler that’s helping the community is just that, a waste,” said Martin.

Sometimes people just don't think. I hope they are parched.
