Leftover Egg Facts

A poll asked, "How do you prefer your eggs cooked?"  46% of people said scrambled . . . 25% said fried . . . 7% said hard-boiled . . . 6% said poached . . . 4% said soft-boiled.

Did you know that a good egg substitute in baking is . . . BLOOD. Eggs and blood have similar protein compositions, particularly with the "albumin" that gives both their coagulant properties.

So yeah, if egg prices start surging again, hit up a reputable butcher.  The conversion is:  One egg equals 65 grams of animal blood . . . or roughly four tablespoons.

(just don’t tell anyone you did this substitution!)

There's a trend that's going viral on social media, where people are putting jalapenos in their white wine.  Specifically, it's a "chilled glass of Sauvignon Blanc . . . with frozen jalapenos in it."

People say it's, quote, "divine" and "refreshing, light, with a little bit of spice."

You'd think that snobby wine experts would FREAK about doing something like this . . . but some of them are actually onboard.  Because of science.

One expert said that it's because the wine has organic compounds called pyrazines, which are also found in bell peppers and jalapenos.  Sauvignon Blanc can have citrusy characteristics, and some even say it smells "green" and "peppery."

A woman in Pennsylvania pretended to be her sister when she was arrested on a homicide charge. The only problem is that there was also a warrant out for her sister, not for homicide a little lesser charge of felony retail theft.

If you were rating YOURSELF, how would you grade your trustworthiness . . . honesty . . . empathy . . . creativity . . . patience . . . artistic ability . . . dancing ability?

In a comprehensive new poll, MORE than 70% of Americans believe they are "above average" or "far above average" in trustworthiness, loyalty, and honesty.

More than 60% believe they're above average in ethics . . . reading ability . . . empathy . . . open-mindedness . . . attention to detail . . . and sense of humor.

Women were more likely to believe they're better than average at ALL of those, except "sense of humor."  67% of guys think they're above average, compared to 53% of women.

The biggest swing in the other direction was empathy, which may not be surprising.  69% of women think they're more empathetic than the average person, compared to 56% of men.

On the flipside, only 15% of Americans say they're above average in running, and 16% say they're above average in "dancing ability."

Less than 30% of Americans believe they're "above average" in:  Musical ability and singing . . . athletic ability . . . physical strength . . . artistic ability . . . "sexual ability" . . . attractiveness . . . and "sense of style."

A few other stats from the survey:

1.  Three-quarters of Americans say they have high expectations of themselves.

2.  Women are more likely than men to say they find it difficult to accept compliments.

3.  Adults under 45 are more likely than older Americans to say their parents praised them often.  And Americans who were praised often as children find it easier to accept compliments as an adult.

Today’s Useless Fact of the Day - With inflation, the value of a dollar is less than HALF what it was in 1996.  In other words, it takes $211 today to buy what it cost $100 to buy 30 years ago.
