Social media was sold to us as a way to share our lives with our friends and family . . . but let's be honest, that's not what it's become.

In a new survey, 46% of Gen Z'ers agree that social media has them feeling like they're living a "double life" . . . between their online and offline personas.

Overall, 27% of people felt that way . . . but younger adults were more likely to admit to it than older people.

38% of Millennials say they have separate online and offline personas . . . along with 18% of Gen X'ers and 8% of Boomers.

The survey also found that 20% of people admit that they're keeping their online persona a secret from one or more family members.  And 40% of people say that it's easier to express their true selves online, than in real life.

If you only needed HALF a carrot, would you buy a bag of carrots . . . buy one individual carrot . . . or grab a carrot in the produce section, snap it in half, and just pay for the weight of that piece of a carrot?

There's a video making the rounds of someone taking a snapped-off chunk of a carrot to the self-checkout.  They weigh it, and it comes out to EIGHT CENTS.

The caption asks, "Is this a hack, or highly unethical behavior?"

Some people are saying this is wasteful . . . because it's very unlikely that someone else would buy the other half.  Others say it's wasteful to buy MORE than you need, if you won't use it.  And others joke that you should bring a PEELER, and peel them first to save a few pennies.

A grocery store in Russia got some very bad press this month after 18 customers landed in the hospital with food poisoning linked to their products.

So to keep people coming in, the owner announced that if anyone got food poisoning, he'd pay them a million rubles each, or about $11,000.

The strategy worked, and people came back in droves.  But for a weird reason.  They were TRYING to get food poisoning.

One report said customers were even seen licking the eggs, hoping they were covered in salmonella.

Now the owner has cancelled the whole thing.  He says he'll pay the original 18 people, but only if they prove his products are to blame.

September, we're getting Chewy Tic Tacs..

Yeah Tic Tacs . . . the mints in the clear boxes.  There's a new version that will have a CHEWY inside, within the normal crunchy exterior.

There are two other differences:  They'll be sold in small bags and pouches . . . NOT in the small box dispensers.  And the two varieties will be FRUIT and SOUR flavors, NOT mint.

They'll be available at select stores like Walmart and Amazon starting in September, before being rolled out nationwide early next year.
