Celebrate:
Corn on the Cob Day
Cousteau Day
King Kamehameha Day (love his rolls)
National Making Life Beautiful Day
Pizza Margherita Day - Just mozzarella, tomatoes, and basil. So Good!
National German Chocolate Cake Day - it is not from Germany, nor does it have anything to do with Germany! It is named after Samuel German, who came up with a dark baking chocolate for Baker's Chocolate Company in 1852. The cake is a layered chocolate cake with a caramel topping with pecans and coconuts. Sometimes, chocolate frosting is put around the sides and the circumference, and maraschino cherries may be put on top.

Yesterday was National Iced Tea Day. Do you think it's the best summer beverage?

The iced tea brand Milo's polled 1,000 Americans, and half said drinking iced tea reminds them of summer, or spending time outdoors. (so according to an iced tea brand...yes)
53% think iced tea is the "ideal" drink for sipping on the porch, deck, or anywhere outside.
A separate poll recently found 8% of American adults have never tried iced tea.
Social media has lots of thoughts on what the "best" summer drink is. Other contenders include: Lemonade . . . soda . . . beer . . . Arnold Palmers . . . mojitos . . . slushies . . . soda water . . . Gatorade . . . watermelon juice . . . cold brew . . . coconut water . . . or regular water.

According to a new report, the average American only gets 9.5 HOURS to themselves every month. Which is . . . not a lot.
That's 570 minutes . . . but it breaks down to about 2 hours and 20 minutes per week, or just 20 minutes per day.
The most common things that get in the way are: Family obligations . . . work commitments . . . financial constraints . . . social obligations . . . and "guilt."
Overall, 53% of people say they need more alone time than they're currently getting. And nearly 38% admit to lying to a partner, friends, or family to get some time to themselves.
These are excuses like, "I'm not feeling well" . . . "I have a lot of work to do" . . . "I have a headache" . . . I have an appointment" . . . and "Oh, shoot, my phone is about to die, so I can't talk."
And people would be willing to cough up some major cash for a full day of peace and quiet.
The average American would pay $2,521 for a totally free day . . . and parents would be willing to pay $1,147 more, or $3,668.
The report also says people would be willing to pay an average of $340 for just one extra hour of sleep.

Today's Useless Fact of the Day - Elephants grow six different sets of teeth in their lives. Once the sixth ones fall out, they die of starvation.
(this has to be one of the saddest facts I've done.)
