Star Wars Day - May the Fourth Be With You!

The sound designer for the original films, Ben Burtt, didn't use synthesizers. He used "organic" sounds that listeners hear every day:
The Lightsaber: The iconic hum is a combination of the idling motor of an old movie projector and the interference caused by a broken microphone cable being brought near a TV set.
Vader’s Breathing: Burtt recorded himself breathing through a Dacor scuba regulator.
Chewbacca’s Voice: The Wookiee "roar" is a blend of bears, walruses, lions, and badgers. Designers spent weeks recording animals that were angry, hungry, or just sleepy to get the range of "shy" to "warrior."
TIE Fighters: As mentioned, that scream is a mix of an elephant's call and a car driving on a wet road.

In England, over 100 guests had to be evacuated from a hotel when the smoke alarms started going off. Three fire engines responded, but they couldn’t find any fire or any smoke. After a short investigation, a spokesman for the fire and rescue service explained that the culprit was someone’s deodorant: one of the guests was over-exuberant with his body spray, and set off the smoke alarms. (probably a teen)

The average adult starts to feel stressed if they are just seven minutes late for a social event or meeting. A survey of 2,000 adults believe “early is on time,” with one quarter admitting they are “obsessed” with time keeping.
In the survey, anything past eight minutes is classified as “late,” and 67 percent plan ahead to ensure they are never running behind schedule. 46 percent swear by being early, with a quarter believing no amount of time is acceptable to be late.
